Well, where to begin. Have you ever met someone so down to earth but able to make sure you look your finest? Lifting you up emotionally and mentally?! That’s Mel. When i first became her client, 10 years ago, she took in a girl who is naturally close to black hair wanting to be blonde. And boy! She did it! Time after time, without damaging my hair and making sure there was dimension and texture. I can be delusional about wanting to be a blonde, but she made sure I had the best healthy lifts. A true artist! Mel techniques are similar as fine art blending together to the point, even on day 3 without wash still looks great and not a grease ball of mess. What is amazing is, after I put this woman through a ringer of getting me to a level of blonde that most would fry out and cause massive damage, but not Mel!, I gave her the most random demand ever, To make me a level 2-3 dark hair brunette. Not only didn’t she deliver, SHE WOWED! If you want a true artist to make your wildest dreams come true, you found her with Mel.

I found Mel through an Instagram search and was so blown away by her ability to achieve the perfect "lived-in" blonde I was going for. She is meticulous, gives suggestions on color maintenance, and goes above and beyond for her clients. Mel is a true artist when it comes to hair. Even after several months of grow-out, my darker roots blended into the blonde so seamlessly and naturally (the third photo is the grow-out from 3 months after an appt with her) I can’t recommend Mel enough for anyone who lives in the Hoboken and Jersey City area – she is kind, professional, and her craft simply speaks for itself. I have always left my appointments with her feeling amazing. She also has such a beautiful new space at Hair With Reason in Cast Iron Lofts!

My experience with Melanie was simply outstanding!!! From start to finish, I felt welcomed and valued. Her expertise was evident in every aspect of the appointment. She is very professional, and was extremely attentive to my preferences. She offered insightful suggestions (which I personally love since I'm not always certain on what I what when I go to my hair appointments) and delivered results that surpassed my expectations. The salon's ambiance was so cute and very inviting. She loves crystals and you tell she poured her heart and soul into making this space comfortable and welcoming to all guest. I love Hair with Reason! I've been going to Mel for years now and I always know I am going to walk out loving my hair. It's also just always a fun experience, Mel is the best. I moved out of the area but I still always make it a point to drive back for an appointment with Mel!! So worth it.

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Mel. Two years ago, I went to a different salon and ended up with a color that was not what I had asked for- leaving me nervous to ever dye my hair again. But Mel took the time to do a thorough consultation where walked through what I liked, what I didn't like, and what I was hoping to achieve. Melanie has been cutting/coloring my hair for years and I was so happy to follow her to her new solo location because she is simply the best! She is a true artist—talented and meticulous.
