Salon 718 Jax has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 144 reviews on Google
I got my hair done and it was good. I thought Angela did a decent job. Her vibe was ok, I thought she could’ve been nicer, she just wasn’t welcoming at all. Cost a little more than I would like to be honest. So yeah that’s why I have her a 3/5. It could’ve been better
The salon is nice and very prompt. My stylist Angela sat me at the sink to wash my hair and asked if she could use Dawn dish soap to wash my hair. She said because my hair was so oily and not to worry she would give me a hydration treatment. So without asking questions because she's the pro.. I say sure. She gave me some tips on how to care for my hair and prevent breakage. At the end of my service I was charged for the hydration treatment that I thought she was doing because she was using Dawn instead of what she called expensive shampoo. I would have appreciated knowing that upfront. In my opinion Dawn should not be used on all hair types. My hair was so dry and flaky the next day I couldn't believe it. $200 was way too much in my opinion. I'll do my own twist from now on. I would still recommend based on the client that got straight styles. Update. When I took the twist out the ones in the back looked amazing but the ones at the top and the front didn't really hold. They started poofing out a lot quicker than the rest. Shocked at the Owner response. Now you're trying to be nasty. Like I told you that day and yesterday. I washed my hair every week or every 2 weeks. I should have posted the pictures of my two strand twist when I do them myself. No thanks.
We all hunt for that perfect hair stylist that can deal with all types of textured hair. Angela at Salon Thairapy, has given me the best hair experience ever. I used to relax my curly hair all the time, till one hair stylist chemically burned my scalp. So, I had given up trust in stylist for 3-5 years. Then I did research on Japanese Permanent hair straightening. This raved about making your hair straight and silky. It removes all the frizz and works on all types of textured hair. After looking at all the reviews and YouTube I decided to let Angela do it for me. I am so happy that I did because she knew how to apply this properly and how long to leave it in. Just look at my pictures of before and after. I wish you could feel how soft and strong my hair is. Come try her for anything of her services and I know you will not regret it.

This review is specific to the braid extension service offered by Victoria. I had an appointment scheduled for 9:00 am; she arrived at the salon at 9:57 am. In addition to her being late, the other stylist called her multiple times to figure out her estimated arrival time. Instead of calling back, she texted the stylist and told her I needed to have hair for my service, which was not listed under the small knotless braid section of the website (which is now listed because of my service I assume.) I managed to go to a hair store that opened at 9:30 am, and it was a 20-minute ride back and forth, and I still made it to the salon before she arrived. When she arrived, she did not explain her delay or offer compensation. In addition to her being late, the service states that for the style, it would take 6 hours; it, however, took 8 hours and 45 minutes for her to complete the style. The stylist was rough combing through my hair and was yanking and pulling through knots she created trying to part my hair. The parts were very clean. The braids could have been better quality despite the service taking this long. Many of the starts of the braids need to be more balanced and smooth. None of the braids are braided to the end of their length, which doesn't make sense with how long the service took. The stylist needed to improve with starting off the braids because she struggled to feed in the extensions, and many needed to be neater. For the price paid ($260), the length of time to complete the style, the quality of the style, and the fact that the stylist was late, I am dissappointed in the overall service and would not reccomend coming to this stylist for braid extensions.
I cannot recommend Angela highly enough. Having always had Japanese hair straightening treatments done abroad, I was hesitant to trust a local salon. However, Angela quickly put me at ease with her professionalism, clean and welcoming salon, and deep technical knowledge of hair care. Even when my initial treatment did not last, she immediately corrected it at a discount and delivered flawless results. Thanks to her expertise, I no longer need to travel internationally for the quality I expect. I have since referred friends and family, who also share the same high regard for her. Angela is truly an asset to our area.
Since the posting of this review Angela has reached out to make things right. I added a star. You can still read the original review below: There was a mix up with scheduling that caused me to no longer be able to be seen by Angela but by a newer stylist who appeared to be in training. The treatments and shampoo were fine but the tools she used for the silk press exposed my hair to a lot of heat and did not end up styling well. Instead of helping correct the styling Angela stated that my hair appeared to be breaking. The appointment took up my Saturday and the style did not last beyond the 48th hour. I recently moved back to Jacksonville and was on the hunt for a new salon. Even thought Angela and Raquel have done great work on my sisters and my mom, I will not be able to support going forward. This past Saturday was a waste of my time and money. Oh also I paid for a trim in the silk press package and did not receive one. But I am grateful as my hair may have ended up in worse shape. I will be leaving another review for a different salon in a few weeks and we will see if my hair was truly damaged. I have included two photos below one with the original style I paid for (my face is blurred out due to tears) and one where I restyled the hair for church the next day. I redid my edges and used CHI silk infusion and foam rollers to correct the curls. If you are hoping to give the salon a try I will say it is kept clean and Angela may talk a bit of smack but does great work. Just verify your appointment and pray it’s not rescheduled with a newer stylist.
