the best. been a customer for 6+ years and best cuts/service/chatting. my two daughters have started going as well. can't go wrong choosing shige.

Shige-San is easily the best barber in the area. Not only is his hair cut ability #1, but also his professionalism, kindness, and service are unmatched. I’ve tried many barbers in the area, and Shige-San stands out as the best by far with no equal. There’s a reason he’s so booked all the time. 10/10 recommend.

Unfortunately my rating is reflective of NOT being serviced by this salon. After several conversations with the owner (in person) as well as the female stylist who was scheduled to cut and blow dry my hair (over the phone), I was told they could do what I needed (cut from long to shoulder length and blow dry naturally curly hair). I arrived on time to my appointment, after driving 20 minutes from home and paying for parking only to be seated and looked over by the female stylist several times sighing and going back and forth between saying she could and could not cut my hair. She gave no particular reason, just kept touching it and looking at and repeatedly went back and forth until after ten minutes of being prodded like a zoo animal decided enough was enough. I was able to book a last minute appointment at M Salon in Eastchester and they gave me EXACTLY the shoulder length cut and style I wanted in less than an hour with only a picture and a few words for direction. Very DISAPPOINTED in Salon Shige as my 3-year old son had a great haircut experience with the owner a few months back that prompted me to try them for my own hair. I've had my hair cut and styled almost exclusively in the past ten years by Japanese salons in NYC, so I really can't figure out why this one salon found my hair difficult to work with. Looking at the pictures of the other customers, my hair is similar to many of their past customers. Oh well. My son won't be returning either.

I was looking for an Asian barber locally as my previous barber's quality was going down while their prices were going up. I found this place and over the phone they told me it was $40. I expected just a haircut like any other barber and that's it for the price. But I was in shock that the price of $40 while more expensive than my previous one by $5, also came with 2 hair washes (one before and one after) and a massage. Maybe I was abused by previous barbers, but every barber I ever had just did a haircut and left me go. And their prices were around $35-40. Not only were there all these extra features included, but the quality was excellent. They did a wonderful and very professional job at everything. I guess this is what you can call "Japanese service." The only downside is they only accept cash instead of credit, but their services are worth every penny.

My 12 year old daughter got her first professional haircut cut there. She didn’t know what to expect. After it was done she was pleasantly surprised. She couldn’t stop smiling when she got home and even gave her younger sister a cut. Kids price is $35. I would highly recommend for other parents.

Hitomi from Salon Shige fixed my dead end and super damaged hair! I went for nearly 6 months without a haircut because the pandemic. Hitomi took my temperature, oxygen, and had hand sanitizer on hand. Both she and Shige were professional and friendly. After letting Hitomi know what I wanted, she cut off all the dead parts of my hair and styled it very similarly to the photo I showed her (she let me know it couldn't be exactly like the photo since my hair is very different which I appreciated!). Overall, my hair feels much healthier, shinier, and just looks better!

The service, quality, care, and effort is 10000/10 here. I had the pleasure of getting my very long hair cut by the owner Shige and he was extremely patient and communicative. He was gentle and conscious of so many little things. Best cut I've gotten and quite affordable for a quality cut and service. Would definitely go here again!
