I will not let anyone except Abby cut or color my hair! She brought my damaged hair back to life with very flattering cuts that still retained length when I didn’t want to go short. Anytime I sit in her chair, I know I’m going to walk out with the most amazing & unique color ever. She is the only person I feel comfortable telling "Do whatever you want!" Thanks to Abby I’m always getting compliments on my hair 💁‍♀️

BEST HAIR PLACE EVER. Michelle did an amazing job helping me pick out the right colors for my hair and skin tone. I typically don't do anything with my hair and this was a real treat. Michelle took her time making sure my hair looked amazing and I have a lot of hair, so it took time. I will definitely be coming here again.

This salon is amazing, fair priced and flexible. Lori did a full foil and root color, I came out like a totally new person. Lori is amazing in her craft in the salon, friendly and helpful in showing me how to maintain my salon style hair. I’ve also seen her great work with extensions. Be sure to visit her in their quaint salon in downtown Frederick you won’t be disappointed.

Needed my hair reblued. I was able to schedule an appointment by text and sent pics of what my hair was currently and ideas of what I wanted. Natalie was my stylist and she did an amazing job! Love how it turned out. She gave me a brighter blue to frame my face and the depth of color on the rest of it is so cool. The photos don't do it justice because I am a horrible photographer.

WARNING: This will be a long review only because I want to make it known how happy I am and the reasons why. A summary of my FIRST experience and as a future reoccurring customer at Artisinal Hair Company is that I am stupendously impressed!! I came in to get a haircut, to tone down my hair color from all-over-blonde, and wanted a balayage effect. I scheduled with Nikki based on a friend's reference and from reviewing her work on her instagram. From start to finish, I felt taken care of by a true professional and backed by her amazing assistant Maria! Based on my experience in forms of service, all checks on my list have been satisfied~ - Location: Easy to find and there is parking across the street or using park mobile right out front. - Atmosphere and work environment: I'm all about work culture, work environment, and of course the design of a commercial space. The store is very organized (well thought out and with obvious stations), bright or natural light, and of course my favorite - well decorated with healthy plants (if they have a green thumb, they also have a 'health and beauty' hair thumb). Even the inventory was stocked in a way that looked very colorful and appealing. I arrived around 3pm and the business seemed busy, but I mean in a good way. Since I had an appointment, I was quickly met by Nikki. There were maybe like 6 employees? From what I could see, all were attending to clients or spaced out throughout the salon. And if any were seemingly standing around, you could tell on closer look that it was a result of efficiency. I love a business that continues to improve themselves through mentorship or building positive relationships with their clients. You can definitely sense a genuine and positive vibe. - Professionalism and workmanship: I was immediately greeted when I walked in. Nikki discussed her plan for my hair and always told me what she was going to do/when next. Any questions I had about hair or at random, she provided me with an answer. When an assistant helped finish with another client, Maria asked Nikki if she needed help. Both ladies worked harmoniously on my hair and while keeping me occupied with chatter. Thanks to being in the care of both ladies, my appointment only lasted ~2.5 hrs. Maria also gives amazing head massages when it is hair wash time. I overheard Nikki's mentorship to a fellow employee and the way she discussed my hair plan. I didn't understand what it meant but it was very technical in hair jargon and knowledge. During any waiting time, Nikki was attentive and asked if I needed anything. Such as a coffee with cream and sugar - which I gratefully took (I was getting sleepy from feeling so relaxed). - Hair: I'm still trying to learn more about hair terminology but I believe it was for a one-process ash brown tone. I came in with all-over blonde and with 2 inch of my natural black hair coming in. I wanted lower maintenance and Nikki did not disappoint. She brought down the tone to the all-over-blonde so my dark roots would look more natural as they grow in. The method Nikki and Maria used only took one time to tone and the result gave me dimension. - Price: Both hair color and cut services are highly reasonable, especially in the DMV area. For the quality you get, you will feel overly satisfied! Also by chance, there was a 20% deal on products with hair service. I got the bedroom (texture) spray and body mass (volume) treatment to help spice up my flat hair.

I’ve been going to this salon for 5 years and I always leave with a smile on my face! Staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. Their coloring techniques are gentle and always leave my hair so shiny and healthy! Genet always does a fantastic job with my color, I’m never disappointed!

Roy was nice, but I don't think he understood what I wanted as an end result. I don't think he listened to me at all. I didn't like the final result the next day as it looks like there are no layers and it's all one length throughout and with how I style my hair I need something with layers ( I told him 3 times I needed more layers). Seemed like he just gave me a trim...It was an expensive haircut that ended up with no style. I went back and Michelle was great, I felt like she listened to me and produced something I wanted. It looks great and my hair feels light and bouncy. And for some reason it looks red now (no color added), which happens sometimes to my hair when it gets cut shorter and has layers because I have natural red highlights, so yay I know it was done right! It was notated the 2nd time it was cut uneven and had little layering, she fixed those mistakes very well.. I wouldn't recommend Roy at all, I'd go back to Michelle.
