Absolute Hair

The woman who did my hair was nice, and I feel bad posting this, but I think people should know what they’re paying for. It didn’t feel like a pampering experience, which is something I usually look forward to with my once a year trim. The wash felt mediocre, and I actually had to rewash my hair that night because it felt heavy and almost greasy after only 6 hours. I have thin hair, and instead of gently detangling, she only used a fine-tooth comb and literally ripped through the knots. She even had to hold my hair so she could pull through it, while two proper brushes sat to the right of me unused. She brushed from top to bottom instead of bottom to top—which I’d think is Hair 101—and it just created more knots and breakage. The blow dry was the worst part for me. No heat protectant was used, and she went straight in with the hottest setting, brushing my hair with her fingers while ripping through tangles again. The entire appointment was 25 minutes. I’ve never had a trim take less than 45 minutes before, and this felt rushed and careless. In the end, I got the trim I wanted, but the process was unpleasant and stressful. I honestly don’t want to think about how much damage it caused, between the ripping, the lack of heat protectant, and the rushed job. I paid $60 for what felt like having my hair ripped and fried, not pampered.

Absolutely thrilled with my first long hair cut experience at Absolute Hair! Chelsea, the owner and curl specialist, worked wonders on my curls. Her expertise in handling long, curly hair was evident, and she delivered exactly what I wanted. Communication was superb, creating a relaxed and enjoyable appointment. The salon was clean and tidy, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. A friend's recommendation led me to Chelsea, and I couldn't be happier. Five stars for this salon and Chelsea's exceptional skills in both long hair and curls!

Michelle is the best! She remembers what I like and does an amazing job each and every time. I live 45 mins to an hour away depending on traffic, and there's no way I'd go anywhere else!

This is the ultimate Salon. The moment you walk through the door of this Salon, you are treated with luxury. You are offered your choice of beverage; be it tea, coffee or even a cheeky glass of wine at 11am on a Wednesday. Ryan always greets you with a smile and a kind word before he shows you through to Steven: a master stylist of note. Please don't even get me started on the amazing head massage you get when your hair is washed. The experience is unparalleled. Every time I have had my hair done by Steven he treats it as his masterpiece and I walk away feeling like a princess. Let me tell you, I have travelled extensively throughout South Africa, the Bahamas and the United States and I return to Cape Town just so that Steven can do my hair.
