Bernice is a great person. People only stay in business for forty plus years, by doing things right. She has cut my hair many times and I've been very happy.

The only reason I'm not giving a one-star review is because the stylist was genuinely nice. I almost feel bad for writing this, but it was a truly disappointing experience. I needed a new salon because I changed jobs and my old salon was just impractically far. The online reservation process was fine, but then I got a call and was told they don't accept credit cards so I should come prepared with cash. That was already weird enough, but all right, whatever. They definitely took off more than I asked them for, which for me wasn't that huge of a deal because my hair is pretty long anyway and it grows quickly, but I can definitely see some people bursting into tears over it. They didn't use any heat protective or styling products, just went straight in with the hair dryer which was held together by duct tape. I wish I was exaggerating. There was no brush involved in the blow drying process. My hair is very fine so it needs some product in it or it fizzes and loses any body it might have had. I had to come home and wash my hair again and style it on my own, and I still did a better job than what I paid someone to do. I paid almost what I paid at my old place, which was in downtown Boston and leagues above this place in terms of equipment and products. I will definitely not be coming back.

This is the first bad review I've ever written, but it was genuinely a bad experience. The stylist only accepted cash (no credit cards), cut off much more than I asked for, did not use ANY heat protectant products while blow drying and styling my hair, and wasted a lot of time talking about completely irrelevant things and gossiping to her coworker instead of doing my hair. Definitely not worth the price. I really worry my hair has been damaged because she was blow drying and styling it with without putting in any products to protect my hair. I'm really disappointed in my experience.

Made and appointment that was confirmed for 5pm for cut and color. When the day came, and I showed up after work, the ladies looked at me like an alien and asked if I was here for a "blowdry." Then they moaned and complained about how late it was to do cut and Color (they close at 7pm). I asked why did you confirm the appointment in that case? It was so rude and awkward. I'm not sure I've ever been made to feel so uncomfortable at a salon before. Flimsily I rescheduled in the AM, but when I thought about it overnight- why would i want to trust these people with my hair? Well it was good judgement because at 7am they emailed me a "confirmation" of the wrong time, an almost doubled price tag and saying it was cash only. Will be happy to schedule elsewhere. Would not come here again nor recommend. It's too bad because I'm sure they do good work but way too rude and unprofessional and clearly don't have their scheduling straight. It gets worse - when I canceled I got an email accusing me of racial discrimination. ...what? I'm against bad service and don't care anything about skin color. If I did why would I have booked here and came ready to get my hair cut ???

Bernice is great and kind. The price for color is affordable. I came with pictures and idea that I want my hair on the brighter brown side and she suggested ways and let me trust her process. I was happy with the results. Thanks Bernice.

My experience was amazing. It is the first time ever and I am happy of how the hairdresser style my hair and gets the color done.Bernice is wonderful and very professional.She knows her job very well. I strongly recommend!!!

After making a reservation on the website, the owner called me at 9pm to confirm a 10:30am appointment the next day. The next day, I arrived right at 10:30am and was surprised to see that the building was locked and the lights were completely off! After waiting 30 minutes of standing outside in sub-freezing Boston temperatures and multiple missed calls / unanswered text messages that went to the owner's voicemail, I went to Andre's Hair Salon down the street, which was gracious enough to take walk-ins and just as high-quality for the price. It wasn't until 4 hours later when the owner called and left a voicemail on my phone saying "umm, sorry that we missed each other..." While I understand that things like traffic and emergencies do happen, radio silence is unacceptable -- especially if owner calls you after business hours the night before (at 9pm, no less!) to confirm an appointment time. I am disappointed that the owner did not show up and left me standing on the street in the cold with no way to contact her whatsoever. Needless to say, I won't be returning again!
