Maksou Dry Cut

I live on the west coast, and I had my first haircut with Charles one year ago. My cousin took me to see him. I loved it, so here I am a year later and I just had to get a haircut from him again! I went to his new location in Coolidge corner Brookline and I am so happy that I did! I enjoyed my time that I spent there with Charles and walked out with another fabulous haircut. Charles took time to teach me how to really style my hair. I really love it and hope that I can get back before another years time! Highly recommend!

I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Charles for nearly 30 years. No matter where he is, that’s where I go for a cut. His combination of knowing what length, color, and style look best on you and also work for your home styling routine (he always shares tips & product reccs!) leave you looking your best. And he’s ok to shake it up - I had different lengths & colors over the years. His dry cut works especially well for wavy or curly hair, I think. I completely trust Charles when it comes to my hair and I think you should too!

Wow-oh-wow! I hadn't cut my hair in over a year and have always gone to the same person (doing a wet cut). Thought I'd give Charles a try and I was completely blown away. He gave me a fabulous new style, it's easy, and so "me." I love it! I will definitely be back. Thank you so much!!!

I did not have a good experience here at all. My first appointment I had, I arrived to the salon door locked and no one there. When I called I was told he did not see me on his calendar. He begged me to give him a chance to "make it right" and that I would receive a discount if I returned. so I decided to give him a chance. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was that Charles is extremely rude, arrogant, unorganized and unprofessional. I felt extremely uncomfortable while he yelled at two little girls to "stop or never come back" when they were simply being.. kids. He was also in the process of curling someone’s hair for a wedding, when he clearly has NO business doing curls. Aside from the harsh personality. I am very unhappy with my haircut. Charles claimed he follows the scalp and cuts based on shape… I don’t know what that means, but I hate the cut and I will for sure never be back. Oh and I also never got that discount.

I have debated for over a year whether to give this review. I never give reviews and I especially feel torn for giving a bad one but I have now two horrible experiences here. My first time going in I asked for Balayage and as you can see from the pictures that is not what I got at all. I left mortified and confused after paying a lot of money and my hair looked like this. As much as I hated the color I though he did a great job on the haircut. So after a year of trying to get my hair color under control I went back for a hair cut. It was a huge mistake. We talked about the length before he started and agreed not to go too short. I couldn’t believe how much he was cutting. When he finished I said it was a lot shorter and choppier than I expected and he said he cut as much as my scalp told him to cut. Please do yourself a favor and don’t go here. I also know last summer (2020) he had much lower reviews so I have I have no idea how all of a sudden he has five stars. Hair is so important and something that takes so long to grow out. I am truly devastated.

I got the best haircut I've ever had with Charles. I was in need of one desperately, my hair is curly, I wear it both curly and straight, and it has some heat damage. You just have to trust him, he has a vision and it's a good one. I've gotten so many compliments from both friends and strangers! I left with lots of layers, they perfectly frame my face, and it's so much easier to style than before. He also gives you tips on how to style and take care of your hair. If you want something super specific, not the place for it. If you don't know what to do with your hair or want a change, definitely give it a shot, and trust the process.
