Anita Kurl

Wouldn't recommend that anyone book here. From a quick pass through their Google reviews, I can see I'm not the only person who has had an issue with them. This salon has an absolutely asinine cancellation policy. They charge 50% of the cost of the service if you cancel within 24hr, with no exception for illness or emergencies. I called with 22hr notice to let them know I was feeling ill, and was told that I would either be charged 50% or could come in sick. When I called again the next day, the manager cancelled my appointment (without my agreement) and still insisted I'd have to pay. For the record, their policy does not include any mention that you can't come in if you are sick. I even offered to pay and have it credited towards my rescheduled service, which she refused. I had to push multiple times to finally have her agree to discuss with the owner and make an exception. As someone who worked as a nurse in a Covid ICU, I find their policy enforcement disappointing to say the least. They are putting their own staff and other clients at risk by pressuring clients to come in when they are sick. Did we learn nothing from the pandemic?! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere - there are other curly hair salons in the area who realize that their clients are human beings with illnesses/emergencies and won't take your money or give you the run-around the way Anita Kurl does.

I just had my first cut and color at AnitaKurl with Ella, and it was lovely! I had only ever let one other hairdresser mess with my curls before, but I was desperately overdue for an appointment and needed to find a place in Boston, so I decided to put my trust into AnitaKurl! The atmosphere is great, and Ella was so sweet. I felt very comfortable especially after she took the time to talk about exactly what I was looking for! She had a time-consuming challenge with my hair to try matching and bringing up old/feathered highlights back up to my roots. She took her time and worked diligently to blend the new into the old, and it looks seamless. She nailed the color and contrast that I asked for and she gave me a great cut! Only thing I will note is that it may be a good idea to have an option to book extended appointment times online as I have a lot of hair and mine took over the allotted 1hr 45 min - which is very normal. But this did cause some overlap with other clients and contributed to a more chaotic schedule than I think AnitaKurl staff would’ve liked 😂. Regardless, all of the staff were very nice and accommodating, and Ella did a wonderful job!! I’m super happy with how my hair turned out, thank you!

Hairstylist Jorden gave me an amazing curly haircut with curtain bangs and was so kind and fun to talk to. Then, she gave me a new routine to care for my specific hair type, as my old products were drying out my hair and causing frizz. I have used the new routine for almost a year now and I swear she CHANGED my life. This place & Jorden are the best. Xoxo

Anita curl is great! Got my 3b hair cut by Ella and she did an amazing job. She got my curls super defined and voluminous, and the shape was perfect. Everyone was so friendly, and lively. Definitely recommend coming!

A long overdue review- my hairstylist was MOLLY the worst haircut I’ve ever had. Awful feedback acceptance. Completely ruined my hair color. I started off with hair to my mid back and a sandy blonde. I asked for a cut to my shoulder and I asked for her to bring me to a more rich brunette. I walked out of the saloon with hair slightly past my ears and all over color of strawberry blonde with heavy red undertones especially in the sunlight. I had told her at the end of the appointment that is completely wrong and she denied it and said she did a great job. When I had called and needed a refund and color correction I got talked to with such attitude and molly having passive aggressive demeanor when I went in for my color correction. Never received an apology. I can’t speak for the other stylists at the saloon but avoid molly at all costs it has taken me a year to come somewhere back to my natural color.

Wonderful very short haircut. I went in not expecting much but omg, this is the best curly short haircut I have had in a very very long while. Kandace cut my hair and I’m so happy ❤️. Highly recommend. She also really takes her time to listen and communicate what she’s going to do.

I’ve been coming to Anita Kurl since moving to Boston about 5 years ago. Over the years, I’ve seen a few different stylists here and each one has been extremely knowledgeable about my kinky / coarse texture. They all have given me great haircuts that were easy to maintain & style when back home. But this week marks my 4th haircut by the one, the only Alexa! I am the happiest I’ve ever been walking out of a salon in my life! I got compliments from strangers walking home, from friends the next day & from my sometimes oblivious partner 🙂 it put such a pep in my step. First off, Alexa is an incredibly sweet & kind person who is easy to talk to & listens to what her clients want & need. She’s also very attentive to each of client throughout the appt (even when juggling multiple clients at different stages of treatment). She does an amazing job dry cutting your curly hair, but she is the Queen of the sink! Her wet styling of curly hair is unmatched. In the past 15 years of wearing my hair naturally curly, I’ve never had anyone make my curls pop like her! I’m currently on day 4 hair, that looks as good as day 1. I never understood why some friends had such unfettered loyalty to their hair stylist, but I get it now. Highly recommend getting a haircut or style by Alexa!
