Had a lovely appointment here getting a cut with fringe, highlights, and style. Keely was amazing and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted, was curious, and a great listener. The highlights she did for me are beautifully subtle and exactly what I had in mind. I’m also a quiet person and appreciated how she didn’t try to force me to chat the entire time, it was so refreshing. Very nice studio environment and ambiance. And all the staff were friendly and kind and no one was pushy trying to get me to purchase products or extra treatments. Also really loved having a space without children to keep things relaxed and calm. Great experience!

I had a terrible experience that is going to impact my hair for years. When I spoke to the stylist months ago, I emphasized that I wanted my hair purple not red (you can see why I specified this from the attached photo as some purple can pull red). When I arrived at my appointment I once again said I wanted it purple and the stylist confirmed she understood. Over the phone we discussed either 1. Not bleaching my hair at all or 2. Doing a bleach bath. I had said I wanted to do the bleach bath as she said it would lighten my hair one or two levels since it was virgin. Once I was there she said we were doing full foils on my head. That should have been my first red flag. The stylist said bleach baths are patchy and not consistent, but she is the one who suggested it to me. She foiled my whole head and the entire time she was really rough with my hair constantly ripping through it with a comb. I have had tons of foils in before and never had this much pain, my head hurt by the end from all the tugging and ripping. For some reason the bleach wasn’t brought to my roots but also wasn’t blended at all. It is also a lot closer to the roots in some places than others and is not consistent one side to the other. I now have a very clear line where my hair was bleached even though I just got my hair done. When the stylist started drying my hair after it was done I could immediately tell that it was red. Not at all the color I came in for. She never once mentioned to me that the color was wrong. She kept emphasizing how much she loved the color. If she would have been honest and said "hey I love this color but I know it’s not what you were going for" this whole situation would have felt a lot better. However, that isn’t what happened and she had full intention of letting me leave with red hair. I was visibly upset so the owner told me to sleep on it and we could discuss it the next day. I paid $480 and left. I reached out the next day and sent photos of my red hair with inconsistent/missed color application. I was informed by the owner that since a "service had been rendered" I could not get a refund. I personally don’t understand how any random service counts as services rendered when MY requested service certainly was not rendered. I was given the option to essentially live with my bright red splotchy hair that my roots completely showed through or to come in to try to fix it. I live out of town and had to cancel plans to come to a place of business I no longer trusted to fix my hair. Their stylists are paid by the hour but they had no acknowledgment for the value of my time to come get it fixed. The fix was a vivid purple being placed over the red. Anyone who has ever used vivids knows that the purple is going to wash out immediately and I am going to be left with a red base. The color does look closer to what I wanted now (still red in certain light especially the underneath section) but the bleach application and red undertone cannot be fixed. I DEEPLY regret spending so much money here and having all my virgin hair bleached for such a subpar experience. I told the owner I feel like a fool for spending this amount of money to get what I got. I love the mission of this place, but unfortunately cannot recommend it. If this doesn’t justify a refund I don’t know what does. Picture 1: My hair after I left the first time side by side with what I requested Picture 2: Face framing piece without color applied so you can see the bleached hair underneath Picture 3: Uneven bleach on either side Picture 4: Hair after it was fixed where you can see the bleach was placed inconsistently and it is extremely obvious where color starts/stops (not blended)

Jonae always does a fantastic job! I am so happy with my haircut. She understands my wavy, dense hair texture well and is able to replicate what I am asking for every time. Her cuts always grow out well too!

I had the best experience at Badlands. I haven’t let anyone touch my hair in two years (sounds dramatic I know) but I had a really horrific experience and was stressed about this appointment. The apprentice Keely was my angel. She listened to what happened to me in the past, hyped me up with great chat and compliments, and made me feel more like I was spending time with a friend than paying someone for a service. And do you see this cut?? P e r f e c t i o n. Over 6 inches and she made it a breeze. Everyone’s energy was amazing, the salon is super clean and gorgeous, I would definitely recommend Badlands to any of my friends. Thanks for healing the fear of a salon for me, Keely! 🫶🏻

Kiersten was incredible! I felt heard and seen and so safe in her chair with my bangs and curly hair. Her razor cutting was so good! She also spent time to really listen to what I wanted and asked tons of great questions, plus kept me posted explaining each step. Don’t even get me started on the shampoo massage!! Soooo good!

I had the best experience I’ve ever had at a Hair Salon. Both times I’ve been here! Corey is AMAZING! I saw her last year with my husband and I came back because I had such a good experience and she outdid herself. I had no idea what I really wanted, I just knew how I wanted to feel, and she somehow gave me exactly what I didn’t even know I needed! I am beyond happy and will be back to see her many more times. Thank you, Corey🫶🏻

At the recs of some people on the Facebook Bend Oregon page, I found Karl at this studio. Quite simply, she ROCKS! I have short hair and have had some truly horrific cuts, however, after a 15 minute consultation with Karl, she was able to give me one of the best haircuts I've had in years. It's super versatile, stylish, and most importantly, is travel friendly! As we've now relocated to Bend, this is where I'll be getting my regular cut and color, all with Karl.
