Lys is truly a master at their craft, and an amazing human being! I get compliments on their cuts constantly, and they always grow out beautifully. Their passion for hair and dedication to honing their craft really shows! The salon itself is beautiful and full of great energy. Highly suggest treating yourself to some one-on-one time with Lys and let them give you an absolutely amazing cut!! Thank you Lys!! I haven't felt this much like myself in a long time!!

Grace is seriously the best. I’ve been to a lot of salons and she always gets it right every single time. She really listens to what you want and makes you feel comfortable the whole appointment. My hair always comes out looking amazing, healthy, and exactly how I pictured it (honestly usually better)

5/5 stars for Strange Bird, 10/5 stars for SAMM! Starting with the salon—Strange Bird’s new location is a clean, vibey, and peaceful space. The staff is friendly and helpful. When it was really busy downtown during one of my appointments, the receptionist ran outside to help save me a parking space. Expenses are all included so you don’t have to worry about tipping—this is really nice because stylists can self-assess their value and needs, and I know I am paying a fair wage for their hard work. As for Samm… she has been my stylist since 2021, and I’ve followed her to multiple different locations. She’s been with me when I had a shag, the Rachel, a french girl bob, every variation of bangs you can imagine, and most recently the Duwaji. Every look has turned out great. Samm is truly an incredible stylist, both because of her overall vision for a look and her attention to detail. She is extremely technically proficient, and she’s constantly learning about new methods to cut and style hair. Most importantly, I keep coming back because I feel safe in Samm’s chair. I trust her to make the big chops as I go through the big changes. I always leave feeling uplifted, and it’s because Samm is as amazing of a person as she is a stylist. And she’s a damn good stylist. If you are looking for a new stylist who is talented, kind, and will go above and beyond to make sure you’re happy with the cut, Samm is the "who" and Strange Bird is the "where".

Second time getting a haircut with Kasey!! Always such a chill experience. And the salon is super cute and has lots of natural light! Love that there’s no smell of chemicals at this salon. I’ve felt super pampered with Kasey. Highly recommend!! There’s an entire parking lot next door where you can pay to park and also plenty of free street parking. And my fave coffee in Austin happens to be next door!!

I have been to Strange Bird twice now, and both experiences have been outstanding. The salon is clean and well designed with a good overall vibe. Each time I visited, I was promptly and warmly greeted by Cait and offered a refreshment. Ashley has been my stylist both times; she is outstanding! My first haircut was a transformation from long hair to a much shorter style, and I was blown away by how satisfied I was with the haircut. My second haircut was just as good. She's also very personable during the cutting process. Very highly satisfied by both visits to Strange Bird. I'll be coming back whenever I need a haircut.

10/10 I’ve had a tremor from being sick, and it can make me feel insecure at times, but Ashley made me feel completely comfortable. After growing my hair out from a pixie, I was overdue for a cut and chose a textured French bob. It was my first visit, right before Christmas, and now I’m about to book my next appointment. Next time, my Chihuahuas are coming with me. The salon is perfect. I love that it’s chemically free. I really dislike the strong smells from some services, so that means a lot to me. Ashley is incredibly talented, professional, and so kind.

I had an incredible experience. Super friendly and helpful staff, incredible care, Breezy listened attentively and did exactly what I ask for. I have curly hair so my experience with that process over the years has been less than stellar, my haircut with Breezy was relaxing, supportive, and exactly what I wanted. The salon is super soothing on an anxious/neurodivergent system and, I have Celiac, and when I asked about gluten free products she was informed and double checked things she wasn’t sure about. I felt safe and heard and would recommend to anyone.
