The LABoratory a ruby devine salon

Came here Thursday afternoon with my husband for his haircut. He’s been a loyal customer of Ruby and her team for years so happy I finally got to check this place out! Upon arrival, the place is decked out in full Halloween decor!!! Amazing. Salon is huge and spacious, looks clean and chic too. Hubby got his hair cut with Anyia and she did a great job! Even got to meet Ruby and chat with her—all the staff were friendly. This place seemed great for all hair types and color!

Ruby is incredibly talented! She was very informative and educated me on my hair type , as well as how to care for my vivid hair and recommended the best ways to change my colour once it faded out for the best possible results! She also gave me the best cut I’ve had in my entire life and explained how to style it for my face shape! My experience was 10/10 and would highly recommend her to anyone!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this hair salon. Ruby has an amazing staff from top to bottom. The salon is such a welcoming, accpeting and open place. And its even better after the expansion a few years ago. Alexis did such a fantastic job with my blonde hair everytime. I would 10/10 recommend. I miss them, but Richmond is just too far away. Though I wouldn't rule out going back at some point.

Gotten my hair color changed and bleached, I went from black to dark purple, dark blue, green, dark red. I highly recommend!! My main hairstylist is Sarah, she’s super nice and you should definitely check her out. Everyone in the lab is so nice and friendly, everyone checks up on you to see if you’re doing fine. This is the best salon ever !! Also Sarah’s haircuts are the best !! I’ve gotten a mod cut from her, it turned out amazing ! (check red hair)

Heather and Anyia are amazing. Anyia cut my daughter’s hair. She is a curly girl and knows her stuff when it comes to cutting and styling curly hair. Heather cuts my hair. She is amazing at achieving exactly the cut I wanted just by showing her a photo. Both ladies are so friendly, hospitable, and make you feel comfortable the entire time you’re there. Love this salon and their people. Receptionists are polite and Ruby herself is wonderful.

I’ve been going to The Laboratory for quite some time now, and it’s become my go-to place for getting my hair back into shape while feeling completely comfortable being myself. The atmosphere is welcoming and authentic, with festive decorations during holidays that are so well done, I sometimes find myself wanting to stop by just to enjoy the vibe—even when I’m not scheduled for an appointment. I typically get a regular trim (Ruby calls it "dusting" since I’m committed to keeping my length!) and a blowout. Ruby’s expertise is evident from the moment I walk in. She assesses the quality of my hair and makes thoughtful decisions about which products to use for washing and styling. Her attention to detail is impressive. I’ve also tried her famous Underlights, which I highly recommend if you’re looking to add some hidden dimension to your hair. More recently, Ruby suggested I try fairy hair to add a little sparkle without committing to color. I absolutely loved it! It’s temporary and blends beautifully with my natural hair. What really sets The Laboratory apart is the warm, genuine welcome I receive every time. Ruby is incredibly easy to talk to, and catching up with her during my appointments has become one of my favorite parts of the experience. I also appreciate that Ruby is committed to growing her craft. She continuously pursues education and shares that knowledge with her team and aspiring stylists. I trust The Laboratory completely with my hair—10/10. Before finding Ruby, I was cutting my own hair at home. That says everything.

I wanna shout out Sarah as she really is talented! She took amazing care of my hair which included a very thorough consultation to ensure my hair health was top priority. My hair took a ton of time and she was such a trooper with that and I cant be more thankful as my hair turned out so beautiful!! I havent been to a salon in years and im so glad i found this one, thank you sarah (& the entire team)
