This was my first time in an Asian market and I was so in awe that my fiancée wa a laughing at how happy I was. I enjoyed my visit, they had PLENTY of stuff, you have many options for majority of products and the prices are decent for these sort of specialty foods. Can’t recommend enough the kimchi. Ugh🤤🤤🤤 it’s delicious, it’s fresh and it’s everything you need for to be happy. We got the pleasure of getting a small ice cream after paying for our stuff and the lady at the cashing out was extremely polite and helpful. Definitely coming back ❤️❤️❤️
My wife ordered a traditional Korean rice cake for my daughter's first birthday party. My wife went there on the day of the party to pick up the cake and was advised the cake was made the week prior and no one came to claim it. Other than the nonsensical idea we would get the date of our baby's birth wrong, no one even called us. Beware.
Hangook Market is one of my favorite spots in Tampa! I come here regularly for their purple sweet potatoes, which are a big part of my diet and something I recommend to anyone who will listen. The banchan dishes are always prepared with love, including spinach, kimchi, seasoned anchovies, fish cakes, and my all time favorite, gimbap. Even the smell inside the store instantly brings me joy. They have an impressive selection of fruits that follows the seasons, including daechu dates and Asian pears, which makes every visit exciting. Many of my pantry staples come from Korean cuisine, and this market makes it so easy to stock up. I can always find toasted sesame oil, Kewpie mayo, mushroom soy sauce, and plenty of other essentials. Their meat selection is excellent, and I know I can get high quality short ribs whenever I want to make galbi. They also have a great selection of sake, Buldak noodles for a quick meal, and a frozen section perfect for days I don’t feel like cooking. Another highlight is the bakery items offered on Saturdays. I am always impressed by the creative ways they use ingredients like beer and sesame paste in desserts. The packaging throughout the store is fun and whimsical. I even spotted Squid Games inspired tinned fish recently, which made me smile. Customer service here is exceptional. I have always felt treated with kindness and respect, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. The restaurant next door is also remarkable. Their food is tasty and makes it easy to grab a meal after shopping. I’ve also been wanting to try the dessert café nearby, which makes this area feel like a true one-stop shop for groceries, meals, and sweets. Hangook Market and its surrounding spots are a gem for anyone who loves Korean food or wants to explore new flavors.
It's easy to miss the turn off of Hillsborough. Mostly Korean food items. Very clean and organized but I was looking for some Thai, Chinese, and Japanese goods that I couldn't find.
If you want authentic Korean groceries or looking to upgrade your culinary skills, this is one of the best local mom & pop stores for Korean food. The selection of kimchi is excellent: tastes homemade, super fresh, and goes with everything. I love eating kimchi with plain steamed jasmine rice or you can chop up kimchi and make some fried rice. The banchan (Korean side dishes) are all delicious and will augment any entree and rice at home. But they are also so good by themselves. The owner makes the burdock root banchan and that is one of my favorite appetizers! It’s just the right sweetness, with umami from the soy sauce and sesame oil. It tastes so darn good with some plain steamed rice and short rib (kalbi!). They also have an extensive selection of marinated meats in traditional Korean sauces. Their meats include pork belly, beef, chicken, bulgogi... all so easy to purchase and cook or grill at home. There is also a variety of Korean dishes like noodles (japchae), steam rice rolls (dukbokki), egg omelet, jigae (stew), soondubu (tofu stew), stir fry vegetables (i love the spinach!) and a variety of homemade stews. The frozen collection is carefully curated and it’s great to make some mandu (dumplings) when you don’t feel like cooking a whole dinner after a long day of work. The snacks selection is so much fun and it’s hard not to pick up at least 3-4 types of chips! Honey butter chips always and also these crispy four-layered turtle chips. Please go and support your local and kind mom and pop Korean shop here and enjoy the experience and attentive service. 😃 Thanks!
Great little market and has an amazing restaurant!!! The kimchi and side dishes are delicious. The Bulgogi and soups are so good. My favorite is the fried chicken extra spicy. Yum!!! Staff and owners are so friendly!
I adore this place. Everytime I am in Tampa I come here and stock up. The owners are the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met and they have the best finds! Prices aren't bad at all. I HIGHLY recommend grabbing the fresh kimchi. Also, ask what they recommend! I am still pretty ignorant to a lot of fantastic Korean goods, and they always recommend things to me I have never tried and haven't had a bad experience yet! Please come check them out.
