If you’re a Seattleite, you know about Maruta Shoten in Georgetown. They have the best California Rolls in Seattle and if you go during their Happy Hour at 5pm, it’s 50% off. If I come during the lunch time, I also love to get a Chinese Deli Combo at their Hot Foods Bar. Make sure you pick up some Chicken Wings and Croquettes. And if you go on other side, you can do all your grocery shopping and find all your Asian ingredients. They have an extensive ramen aisle as well as sauces. The staff are so nice here and I love talking to everyone at the Hot Foods area. This is one of my favorite grocery stores and I always stop in when I’m in Georgetown.

This was my first time stopping by this little market, and I’m honestly impressed. I came during the lunch rush, so most of the pre-made sushi was already gone — which is a good sign. I grabbed some sashimi and a salmon poke bowl instead, and both were spot on. Portions were generous, prices were super reasonable, and every bite tasted fresh. No complaints at all. 10/10 — I’d happily make this my everyday lunch spot.

Closed on Sunday but makes up for it in every way the rest of the week. Hot case and fresh poke and sushi amongst other options are the best and most tasty options!! The variety and friendliness is what keeps me coming back!

The staff here were really nice and sweet. I enjoyed the karaage, it was very juicy. The garlic chicken was good, but not as moist. Ebi tempura was great, as we're the croquettes. The salmon nigiri was a bit too fishy for me, sadly.

Best spot for low key excellent takeout and sushi! Cheap and cheerful is the name of the game. Properly seasoned sushi rice, good quality fish, properly prepped futomaki, all excellent and greta prices! $6 for a huge California role that tastes 100x better then 90% of restaurants in seattle. Only place you can getter better and cheaper is vancouver canada, but that's Hella far. Sashimi is a great deal too, 8 quality slices ( 3 red tuna, 3 salmon, 2 tunatataki) for $12 is agr8 deal. Also, their Chinese takeout is 🔥 fried chicken morsels mixed with sauce to make lemon chicken, spicy chicken and orange chicken. Pair it with fried rice or noodles. $10/3item combo. Lastly, hit up their grocery aisles for some traditional Japanese groceries at better prices than uwajimaya. High quality mining, soy sauce, tsuyu and pickles. Decent selection.

Awesome Japanese market and deli, great grab and go food. Spiced tuna was amazing, and coming in here gave me great memories of my time in Japan. Will be by any time I’m in the area!

Side quest of the day: stopping by Maruta Shoten. I mainly came for their deli items, which included everything from sushi and poke to a variety of hot and cold dishes. I was craving poke and got the spicy tuna, it was only $10! It’s not as saucy as what you’d find at typical poke spots, but the fish quality was really good. I also tried the sushi rolls, and they tasted freshly made as in the rice was still soft. The karaage had great flavor, though since it was sitting under the heat lamp, it lost some of its crispiness, I’d recommend tossing it in the air fryer at home. Service was great and quick! Everything seemed reasonably priced. The grocery store itself was cool and gave off that authentic Japan feel. Definitely a fun little stop if you’re in the area.
