Hau Hau Market

I love this store so much. Been going here since I was a kid. Run by a Teochew family and the cashier's speak Cantonese and Mandarin dialect on top of English. I love their pink laminated signs, it's the only place I know that has english, vietnamese, and Chinese signs. Helps me as a Hoa kieu person with the tidbits I know from each language.

They owner had a pretty bad attitude. I am hurry to use the restaurant, and I politely asked the lady who is the owner here, she just refused without any explanation. We are shopping here a lot. Unreasonable! How can you treat customers like this! Shame on you!

Came to buy some ground meat and saw someone left an open monster in with the meats. (To keep it cold?) When I mentioned this to the young man working he laughed in my face. I fail to see what is so funny about contaminating the food you are selling. Will NOT be coming back, do NOT recommend.

My first time here and I grabbed some Asian treats from here for pretty cheap.

Asian/ chineese fresh veggies and fruits, market on a budget

Hau Hau Market is one of the reasons I love living in the CID! Such a hidden gem! They have a large outdoor "farmers market" style produce section plus a superb selection of fresh and frozen meat and seafood inside. Everything is sold at wholesale prices, sometimes around 1/4 of the price of Uwajimaya down the road. I've always found their produce to be high quality and fun to pick through. If you're a creative chef, they often have things other nearby markets don't have. I usually fill a reusable shopping bag with fresh vegetables, fruit, and produce for about $20 all-in, and I'm always stunned when I see the receipt. Nowhere else comes close.
