Around January 10, 2026 I was shopping at the store. I've been shopping here since 1988. But on this day, I saw a Person using drugs outside and then walked into the building. I reported it to the cashier who was a young man with greased back hair. He told me I had nothing to be afraid of, but I repeatedly asked. Do you have security? I feel scared. He turned the situation around on me, began gaslighting me, and repeatedly got angry when I told him I felt scared. When I questioned why The store didn't have security. He called his store manager over and turned the whole story around saying that I was the one being a problem! Two weeks later, I tried to walk in the store today and the store manager kicked me out. I volunteer for food, not bombs every weekend for many years. I'm fully aware what a person on drugs looks like and I had every right to ask if the store had security. There is an employee who knows me named nifty and he witnessed the whole situation. I work with lawyers for a living and I am debating suing this establishment over harassment and discrimination. They are discriminatory against elderly women and harass you if you complain and that is wrong. I won't shop here again just because of this incident. The Mexican store manager is absolutely terrifying. If you have a problem, don't complain to her she will kick you out of the store, fast faster than you can blink

What I love about Staff of life is that it's a nice healthy extension of my home. Where I find everything healthy I need for my home, they have every product you can think of. And if you want to have a nice time, the outdoor cafe is another option in the market. And the most important thing is the store staff. Customer service is reflected with the human quality that Nina shows, always attentive and always with a smile, thank you very much for all the attention.

What a lovely grocery store. There was no issue finding parking. The staff were very helpful. The skylights are amazing!

The Staff of Life is hands down the best grocery store in Santa Cruz. They have the largest number of bulk items, an excellent butcher, the widest selection of fruits and vegetables, and numerous organic and fair trade products. I find them to be less expensive than other grocery stores, especially when you consider the savings when buying spices, herbs, olive oil, vanilla extract, honey, and detergents in bulk. They also have the most comprehensive selection of supplements, including the local, reasonably priced Source Naturals brand.

I bought many times probably won't come back. Everything was good except the young man who combed his hair back. One time I wanted to return the item because I didn't get a discount and he showed an unpleasant attitude. The second time he told me to take everything out of the cart. He even had his hands free because he say fast so i not undertand and my english not well. So there was a woman behind me to help me. He told me to do many things that I said that my Englishnot well.

You need more Hippo Harvest produce! I can't eat locally grown produce because of the contamination from the Moss Landing battery fire. You ran out of Hippo Harvest weeks ago, and it's one of the few vegetables I can buy from SOL. Additionally, the cashiers have stopped assisting customers with bagging their groceries.
