El Super

Ya'll remember when this was Value+? or when the Mission Bazaar or Indoor Swapmeet were in this shopping center. Sadly I'm dating myself, but it was always a wonder why a Mexican market wasn't here. I mean it's convenient, local, provides everything needed for traditional Mexican cooking and the local demographic is ideal. Apparently a famous Basketball player comes by regularly because he owns it, so there is a small chance you'll see this former Bulls/Lakers/Heat/Raptors/Pistons player. You'll also see a fair amount of unhoused and transients roaming, passing thru or trying to sleep in/around the center. Parking isn't half bad, but the parking lot is falling apart. Prices are good on produce and pantry staples, most meats are cheaper, but lower quality (flaken ribs are sometimes literally more bone than meat). Marinated meats are very good and their variety is amazing. Best deals on onions, tomato's, peppers and masa. I come here specifically for those, queso fresco, bolillo and a few other items. Their fried items in the food counter are pretty decent, especially their chicharrones. You have to come on Sundays when they often have Agua de Platanos which is a real treat. If you need anything Latin for your pantry come here, if you need specifics come here and if you need good deals on those come here. It's nothing fancy, but it's great value. I actually like their self check out process. Shoppers here are much quicker than they are at American grocery stores.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love this store! It is a regular grocery store but leans heavy on hispanic food culture. The produce is inexpensive, extensive and always has new items. The bakery is my go-to for cakes, cookies, buns and other delights. Amazing! This store is busy always, but worth the trip! The deli has a large selection of hispanic + traditional american foods. Fresh, well managed selection. El Super is a must stop shop for me!

SABRINA, the cashier, is consistently rude, HOSTILE , and completely unprofessional. Every single interaction I’ve had with her has been negative. She has an attitude, treats customers poorly, and makes the checkout experience uncomfortable. This is not a bad day, it’s a pattern. No one should feel INTIMIDATED or uneasy just trying to shop. If management cares about customer service at all, this behavior needs to be addressed immediately because it reflects terribly on the business. Great store , great food.. BUT Lately prices on hot food has been sky rock.. Keep em low as you can please , we all appreciate it..

I came here while visiting San Diego from Houston. Kinda like a fiesta or a sellers brothers as we have here. The highlight here was the food court with all its options of good ole homemade Mexican food. I had some chicharrones con chile rojo y verde with some rice and beans y tortillas. Oh, the champurrado was good too according to my wife. Delicious!

Incredible service, the freshest food, great selection and the best prices in town make El Super the one stop shop for groceries if you live in Oceanside.

I love this supermarket. The cute birthday cake was a hit with my daughter – both in looks and taste. The consistently friendly and helpful staff make every visit enjoyable. Their bakery offers delicious treats at reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
