Nijiya Market Little Tokyo Store

Literally the meanest grocery store I’ve been too. There’s this security guard walking around telling someone including myself don’t do this don’t do that. How any photos of inside the store (posted in reviews) were taken 100% illegally according to the guard! SMH!!! I guess the prices and stuff there is ok… hard to tell with the guard breathing down everyone’s necks. I mean I know you gotta job but dang… I was trying to take a pic of the cakes to see if someone who wasn’t with me wanted one… got yelled at so needless to say I bought zero at the store!!! But in little Tokyo spent way too much.

This is definitely one of the gem grocery in USA. This store is almost exactly like any convenient store in Japan. Not only they sell usual fruit, veggies grocery items, they also have plenty of cooked food, desserts etc. Bento is particularly super nice if you are on budget. Their bento variety and flavors are exactly the same in Japanese convenience store, with just friction price than dine in at nearby restaurant. Their bento store in fridge, best to heat up little bit in microwave before enjoy it. One of the bento is exactly like the bullet train bento in Japan. Bento include savoury and sweet. The soya fried mochi is just so good. Eat it warm, and it is super soft and tasty. Full of flavor. Best dessert ever. Also recommend wheat water, contains no caffeine and it is a very common drink that serve in Japan. Very healthy drink. This store cabn paid via card and cash. Bag surcharge applied. Cutlery are included.

I love this place. The pre-packaged meals are tasty and good value. The green tea jelly with kinako cream is sooo good - not too sweet with real tea flavour. Onigiri is also affordable at 1.99 each. Not pictured here, but the mitarashi dango is so soft and tasty too. I really wish Nijiya Market existed in Canada!

I just got home and looked at my receipt and I was overcharged. Cashier was not paying attention. I bought 1 large bag and 2 small bags of Halloween Hi-Chews and she charged me $5.49 ea instead of $3.49 for the 2. Bad customer service. Too far to drive back and dispute. Watch your purchases.

This market in the heart of little Tokyo Japan village in Los Angeles with all the fun stores. They have a microwave for food if you’re gonna buy it here and you can heat it up before you leave so you can eat it. They have the authentic Japanese desserts like mochi and candy and chocolate. Hello kitty candies, some veges, some fruit, tofu, and other grocery items. The prices are not going to be the cheapest like the grocery stores in San Gabriel, but they have all Japanese stuff including stickers. And what I came here for? Pre made bento boxes and other packaged lunch and dinner boxes are great to go. AND after 6-7pm the manager puts a 20% off sticker so look out for deals.

We enjoyed some delicious Japanese ice cream — my girls were so happy, the flavors were amazing! 🍨😊 Then we explored the Nijiya Market — a beautiful and well-organized Japanese grocery store. We found so many interesting and authentic products: snacks, drinks, and even Japanese shampoo my daughter picked out herself! Everything felt fresh, clean, and full of cultural charm. The store is small, but it's selling Japanese items if you're looking for Japanese stores/groceries/items. They sell fresh/hot to-go foods and offer some discounts depending on the time of the day. You can find sushi, deli, snacks, drinks, beverages, sake, udon fresh/packaged, tea, Japanese foods, etc. Also, they deliver, or you can order through services like Doordash. They have security for your safety concerns.
