Al Salam International Foods

Check the expiration date carefully. I’ve had several experiences receiving products that were already expired or only a few days away from expiring, and the shop owner showed a lack of professionalism in dealing with customers.

I engaged Al Salam International Foods to provide Baklava for 120 guests at my son's wedding last weekend. The baklava was absolutely beautiful and it was delicious! Many of our guests commented about how the baklava was such a wonderful surprise at a wedding, rather than the traditional wedding cake. Rasha and Zoe were so easy to work with too. As the mother of the groom, I had many worries that everything would be perfect on the wedding day, but Rasha and Zoe made me feel confident that the baklava would be great.....and it was! When I picked it up (5 half sheet pans) to transport to the wedding venue, they had carefully wrapped each sheet pan in plastic and then boxed each pan separately so that it was very easy to transport. This was over and above my expectations and I was very grateful for their extra care. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for high quality international foods.

Good location, very honest owner, and the prices are reasonable compared to other international food stores. I've been shopping there for about 3 years and I never had to worry about expired products. Thank you.

Quite the gem tucked away here in Iowa City. Al Salam has a decent array of various Middle Eastern Foods and Treats. I've found the pricing to be good and these date cookies are rather delicious. Not to mention the Turkish Olives they import. If you live in town you should stop by and give it a try.

Bought ingredients for Atayef and it was perfect! The desserts on display were also sooo good! The people there were so wonderful and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Owner and family helped me find snack options and even threw in a free sesame bar for me to try. Reasonably priced. Quality snack of roasted pumpkin seeds, peanuts, pistachios, almonds and some pieces I couldn't identify. LOL. I'll return!

Finally I found a place to buy the real pita bread, summac, and labneh.
