I absolutely love this international grocery store. They have an amazing selection of fresh produce — everything from avocados and limes to specialty fruits and vegetables you can’t always find in regular supermarkets. The quality is excellent, and everything looks fresh and well-stocked. I also appreciate how diverse the store is — you can find products from many different countries, which makes it perfect if you enjoy cooking international food. The atmosphere feels authentic and welcoming. Great prices, great selection, and definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for fresh ingredients or unique items.
It was just ok. They have a good selection of shelf items, pantry items and spices, but the meat section they don’t have a lot to select from. Very slim pickings and they don’t keep the meat stocked. I go to Sarah’s in Indianapolis on 38th St. to get the meats to make my dogs breakfast food, I can usually get everything I go in there for, but this one in Greenwood hardly had anything. It was very crowded as far as all the shelves in produce crowded together. The cashier was really nice and friendly when I checked out. I just stopped here because I didn’t feel like driving all the way to Indianapolis, but after seeing the condition of the store, driving to Indianapolis will be worth it. I buy them liver, hearts, kidneys, pig ears, tripe, stuff like that. I make their treats. I don’t allow store-bought and get just about any kind of meat and fish at Saraga’s
Parking is tight so put on your patience hat. It's worth it though, the prices and selection are fantastic! They have vast varieties of flours and spices that brings us there. Along with the produce, love ALL of the greens and fruits to choose from (and it's fresh & clean). I havent been brave enough to learn how to cook more international dishes yet but their fish market has loads of choices. You can find a few typical American fruits &veggies (apples, oranges & bananas...cukes, broccoli, carrots, potatoes &yams) but they stock way more than American grocery stores. Currently (Dec) they have Papayas as big around as your thigh, several large melons and citrus's. Varieties of eggplants, beans and other fun looking squash type veggies. Lots of green leafy plants and roots too, in large quantities but low prices. I get the sense that this Saragas serves a lot of Southern Asian clients (Vietnamese, Burmese etc) as well as Latin & Middle eastern cultures based on the food choices. Maybe that info will help if you're looking for a specific menu plan. I consider this a little gem hidden away in a corner of the southside of indy.
Great grocery place. Pros: 1. Different kind of vegetables. You will find a lot of greens which is one of its uniqueness. 2. Good collection of fish and meat. 3. Great collection of cooking utensils. 4. Nice collection of snacks. Cons: Found some products which are nearly expired. Some vegetables were not fresh.
The store has a wide variety of products (Hispanic, African, Middle Eastern, Indian) but definitely leans towards East Asian and Southeast Asian food. The produce is very unique (taro roots, sugar cane, bitter melon, banana flowers, etc.) and reasonably priced, especially when compared with the Sarah's near Castleton Square Mall. The store contains an indoor "street food style" Burmese restaurant called Mandalay. The food is good and cheap but the workers may not speak much English. You can use a picture menu to communicate as necessary. Pro Tip: There are public restrooms in the store but it might be wise to avoid them if possible
The grocery store is okay, but you can tell it is becoming too large for its own good. This is more of an international Asian grocery store having food from many places. The only thing annoying is the parking, since there is little space close to the store and you have to park farther away.
It looks like they are putting red dye on the hot pot beef. Will never trust them with the beef.
