Enson Mart

We are regular customers of this store. We bought 3 live lobsters from the tank at 7:00 pm on August 27. The young man at the seafood counter helped us pick the lobsters. Because of the way they held them in their hands, I could only see the underside of the lobsters, so I agreed. When we got home, I realized that one of the three lobsters I bought had some kind of disease on its shell and was oozing fluid. I’m sure no one would want to eat something when you’re not certain if it could make you sick or harm your health—especially with the recent outbreak of "flesh-eating bacteria" linked to seafood. Therefore, we recorded a video as evidence and planned to return it to the market the next day, since item number 2 on the receipt clearly stated that seafood with problems could be refunded within 24 hours. When we came back to return it on August 28, the seafood counter staff denied responsibility and blamed us for choosing the sick lobster. But they didn’t understand that we never saw the infection on the lobster’s back. The seafood counter employee not only refused to refund us but also yelled in our faces in their shop. We left silently and left the sick lobster at the seafood counter. Never go back!!! Be careful when buying products here.

202408 - No longer stocked with many traditional Chinese bakery items (formerly imported from Chicago Chinatown) such as bbq pork buns, coconut buns, at least noticeably unavailable recent visit and bakery area rearranged as if to discount that product area's offerings. The pricing on these bakery goods was noticeably increasing in the past year, so probably not a huge demand due to cost Sad, as these are favorite treats that properly priced and available, would be constant market draws (i.e., loss leaders). The market still has fresh produce, meats, and frozen goods as was before so for basics, it's still worthwhile to visit. The store has reorganized/replaced freezers and shelves, even saw building windows in corner that could see from outside but not from within so a better presented store and arranged merchandise. Some of the offerings were getting expensive and so didn't notice/see them (peanuts in shell) on shelves last visit. Again, these were loss leader products and not having them available is one less reason to have a grocery list for go-to items all from Asia Mart. Costco hasn't discontinued/repriced their roast chickens for food counter items, and there's a reason for that. Figure it out. 202108 - compared to other international grocery stores, Ensonmart/asiamart is far better stocked with fresh produce, meat counter, frozen goods truer to Asian cuisine rather than blended in with Mexican, etc. So despite the owner change, forced to adjust the rating feom the 1 to 4 star as long as tge product mix doesn't drastically change. 202107 - definitely pricier now and meat packages scrawnier. Several visits packages leaking meat blood ewwww. Staff changed. I wonder if they even restock weekly from Chicago as was done in the past. Brands cganging. Going elsewhere heard a lot if new Asian groceries on the Southside. 202106 - update --I think this place may have changed ownership. Ceilings are black panel (?),the stock is slowly changing, and prices for some items increased 20%. Fresh produce/meat shelves aren't restocked of packages so I think the personnel / attention has changed which to me is a big downgrade. We will be watching, hope the store doesn't lose its customer luster Original: Been shopping Asia Mart for decades. Can usually depend on finding same stocked items throughout the years whereas other 'international grocery stores' seems spotty with unfresh shelf life. Stockers monitor shelves and refill quickly. Knowing a lot of goods are transported from Chicago, wish this location resembled more aisle organization and product wise as Chicago Chinatown grocery stores but know that's hard to replicate. If they could do that, this store would be a real win for Indy.

If you know what your going to get, this place is much more convenient then the "big store" down the street. Great selection.

Full of wonderful foods. Great prices. Totally recommend it for exciting snacks, tasty sauces, and asian kitchen utensils.

Great place to find ingredients i usually have trouble finding. Prices and more then fair. Only down side is the constant staring, but I understand.

This is a middle scale Chinese/Japanese/korean/Southeastern Asian store. I can get almost anything my family need. Price is similar or a bit less than the other Asian stores in Indy.

This place has everything, from fresh crab, shrimp and fish to frozen. I've gotta cone back soon
