Mi Gente International Grocery

Mi Gente is full of surprises. From the name, I expected it to be just another Mexican supermarket. While there is certainly a predominance of Hispanic items, there is a large Carribbean (Jamaican and Haitian) section, plenty of African items, a substantial produce section, live seafood and more. The Southeast Asian aisle was quite limited though, to be honest. From the outside, I expected it to be a small to mid-sized market but it was big and also included a boba tea shop, an ice cream place, a restaurant and more. From past experience with International Supermarkets, I expected many items not to have clearly labelled prices but that was not the case, either. Things were not cheap but at least, there were no surprises at the cash register. Pro Tip If you are looking for FuFu pancakes, couscous, and other African items, this has one of the best selections that I have seen in Indianapolis (on par with Saraga Supermarket) but if you are seeking Thai, Cambodian, Burmese and other Southeast Asian items, you may be disappointed

It's a nice store. A lil over priced and they have a lot of Great Value products from Walmart without having the Walmart prices. Also in the produce section a lot of the items done have the name of the product on them so if your not familiar with a certain item or you wanted to try a new recipe that needs a specific fresh herb its almost impossible. I was looking things up on my phone trying to find thai basil and i could not find it. The store uts self is ok for quick trips but Saraga definitely has a way bigger section. If you need help and don't speak Spanish make sure you have a picture to show them.

This sickened and saddened me seeing this. Board of health really needs to be called. Fish living in filthy water, fish so hungry they are nibbling on each other, multiple dead fish in the tanks, fish jam packed so full they cant move around, fish with eyes that look blind not normal. I understand these fish just get killed anyway but til their last dying day they should be properly cared for, not only that but i feel fish in these condition may make someone really sick. PLEASE HELP ME DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

So excited that there are finally a Asian and Mexican food market in this area, and it is WAYYY nicer and bigger than I expected .The seafood and veggies are very fresh . Probably will go there every week now 😀😀

Molded food!! We bought frozen sesame rolls yesterday, and when I opened it it was horribly molded!! Both of the packages were expired and had molded. Also, the workers do not speak a bit of english!!!! Non of the workers spoke proper English. Bad experience overall.

Super basic place . The Boba tea was amazing and the ice cream in the store tastes amazing.
