Apna Bazaar

New to Indiana, we went to this store for some quick bites. They had huge collections of items for $1 which had ready curries . We picked couple of those only to realize they were expired in Nov 2024 later on. They had fish rotting in their freezer. Many item had no prices which led to potential scam at cashier. Place is very disorganized. Owner/ cashier is a sweet talker and can distract you from being attentive while billing. Being in prime location, it could be a very successful place but felt very rundown.

The customer dealing of the store is great. The owner is there to greet you and help with any stuff you want to find. They also have snacks like Kachori, samosa, jalebi, milkcake so you can try by piece and get done with your cravings. There milkcake is one of the best! Kachori was also good

As an British person living over here in Indiana, this is as authentic as you can get to Indian grocery’s . Furthermore, the two blokes working at the store were extremely helpful and helped me find 7 plus products because I am still learning how to pronounce certain Indian foods. One thousand percent going back there once my supplies runs out…

Beware of buying vegetables here! I bought bottle gourd (ghiya) from Apna Bazaar, and when I cooked it, it was extremely bitter. Bitter bottle gourd can be toxic due to cucurbitacin. I called the store owner (also the cashier) to warn him, but he brushed it off and only offered a $5 refund. This is a serious health concern, not about money. They need to ensure their produce is safe and properly stored. I had to throw everything in the trash(photos attached). I strongly advise against buying vegetables from this store.

Love the service here! The uncle who works there is super helpful and really sweet. Would definitely recommend trying the delicious biryani from here. It’s better than most restaurants. And the samosa from here is the best snack ever! I always get a few no matter what!

Best desi grocery store in Indy! Love thier prices and selection! Also the best biryani I've ever tried outside of my mom's cooking!

Fantastic store. I’ve been learning to cook a specific dish lately and had a tough time tracking down all the right ingredients. Then I came across Apna Bazaar — they’re pretty new in the area — and they had everything I needed, even a frozen version of the dish to hold me over while I get the homemade version down.
