a surprisingly extensive Asian supermarket in a concrete wasteland of a strip mall. From joss houses to balut, you can find it there. The store is warehouse big and not crowded, which may not bode well for its survival. They could probably save quite a bit of money by dialing back their overactive air conditioning.
Great place to find alot of my favorite Asian snacks. Wasn't expecting an Asian market let alone Market place so close to my hotel but how awesome was this. Great options and varietiy of fresh and frozen fish, meats/ proteins, tropical fruits like Durian fruit, Asian pears, etc. When walking through the entrance to the right you will find some art from Tuscan sceneries/ scapes, to popular well known Asian characters such as Hello Kitty, Dragon Ball Z Goku, Pokémon pocket monsters merchandise including stuffed plushies, hanging art, toys, etc.
It's a very big store and there is so much to see and sense I'm already familiar with some snacks drinks and even food I already new exactly what I was looking for. Your gonna see some of my favorite items I always buy. I just love love love it. FYI those red boxes of noodles are super extremely spicy if you can handle be my guess but if you can't I wouldn't recommend it.😁✌ Also this store is next to a boba store call " Oh my tea " I also recommend if your looking to try some coffee boba tea. 😍
when you walk into the store the stench is from the rotting fish and seafood, I bought two flounder fish and had them cut them into filets and when I got home, the stench from the fish after I opened the bag was so bad, I cooked them anyway in hopes that they would stop smelling, baked them in butter to see if it was just something that was going to go away and it DID NOT...... the fish was bad, they had about a dozen of them in ice and I chose two of them, but when I took the fish back with my receipt they told me that there was no refund on fresh seafood..... I lost $14 and I told them I would not return ever again.... there are about 4 or 5 stores around locally, several Asian and Philippine to visit and that's where we will go from now on.... let me warn anyone to smell the fish you choose to buy before you pay for it as I'm fairly sure that all of the fish are bad, and I can't believe that there are no other reviews pointing this out, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT as the store always stinks like rotting fish.... they probably can control the reviews and they remove the ones like mine because the store always stinks like rotting fish.... beware of that for sure......
I came here on Monday afternoon, so glad I did it! No more running to Chinatown to get my groceries~ yeah! The store is very clean and everyone work here is friendly and helpful. It isn't that big but it has everything. Most of the fresh are in good conditions and prices are all reasonable. I highly recommend the fish paste from the sea food department. I got the kingfish one and it's sooo good!~ It goes well with hotpot or noodle soup, or just boil them in water then dip with soy sauce (if you like spicy you could add some Thai chili), traditional Cantonese way of eating sea food.
Newest location in the chain. I think it opened in 2016, was converted from a old Sam's club location. Had damage form Hurrivane Harvey and took a very long time to reopen. Inside is very nice, brightly lit and clean. In fact the cleanest and best looking of all their locations. Not much traffic here though which is a shame since the area around here is a food desert. While this location has a smaller selection than the main Bellaire location, it has all the essentials. Produce is fresh and fairly priced. This is the location that buys vegetables grown by my family. Meat and seafood counters have a very nice selection to choose from. Dry goods are plentiful and have everything you need to make any asian meal. If you happen to be the area. Go ahead and shop here you wont regret it.
Nice place to shop for Asian ingredients which you can't find in most Chain stores. Service is somewhat questionable. Restroom is on the other side of the store and it can be dangerous if a woman by herself trying to use it. There is only security personal in front of the store but can't do much if you're on the other side of the store. Meat products and produce are not fresh. You may have to check it before leaving the store because their return policy is practically none existent.
