H K Market

Quite a good Korean store with lots of Korean goods, fresh meats and other Asian products. If you're looking for Korean ingredients, you'll probably find what you need here. Decent parking, too, and probably more convenient to shop here than to go to Korea Town.

The best Korean grocery store outside of Koreatown. Good place to pick up Korean and Japanese food products. There are certain signs that are just in Korean, but most everything there has English signs/labels/etc., too.

Korean Supermarket. Don't like coming here but it's close to home and good prices on fruits and veggie produce. Staff are bunch of latino thugs who stare you down like you in their territory or something or want to start something. If they ever do, they can kiss their jobs goodbye. It's not like they are working hard anyway. They work slow because they are busy try to stare at customers coming into their turf. LOL. Forget the idea of your friendly grocer here. Only nice people are the cashiers who are Korean. I don't know how this place stays open. The old man Korean manager or owner must be rich because I think he's losing probably hundreds of thousands or millions a year keeping this place open when there is about five customers during weekdays and maybe 15 on weekends at any given time. If only he knew how to change the service culture in this store and the items he stocks. I like to go to Jon's Market for supermarket items. The major chains are best for meats when it's on sale. Trader Joe's for quality, healthy choice items.

There's a Korean restaurant inside this market that has a nice lunch menu. The Bi Bim Bap is quite good. They have Korean barbecue, but you don't cook it yourself at your table. Instead, they bring it out already cooked and on a sizzling plate.

Pretty cool how there's a korean market in Glendale. It closes at 10:55 pm by the way. Not 11pm. Not 10:30pm. I came around 10:30 pm, and all the banchan was closed off T_T This was the only time I've gone, so I will be back during normal market hours to see if it's livelier. I would say that this market has one of the cheapest produce and meat in that area compared to the American markets like Ralph's and Trader Joes. This is a VERY korean market, and therefore has the many sauces associated with korean food (SCORE!!). They also have a lot of sashimi option and cheap uni. However, the uni quality, like that of Korean markets, is subpar- pale yellow and limp. But if you make some pasta sauce from that, you won't be able to taste the difference 😉 I'll be back to score on some banchan.

This place is closing at the end of July 2017. If you want Korean food products, your next best bet is Korea Town (sorry for the obvious) and the closest city will be La Crescenta. I am sad to see it go. Another victim of out of control development in Glendale CA.

This is the largest Korean market in the Glendale/La Crescenta area, great alternative if you don't want to drive to Koreantown. Expectedly a bit pricier and less variety than K-town but it gets the job done and is fairly clean and organized.
