India Grocers - Michigan

Gross Jalebi box. Smelled off as soon as I opened it. Tasted even worse. Had to throw away the box as it is. NO DATE CODE..!!!, but I can tell it's old. I don't think they will take it off the shelves as long as it looks okay. Going by previous comments, no point in trying to provide the feedback. Never buy anything without date code from this store. DONT BUY SWEETS from here..!!! Better stores in the area, don't risk your health.

India Grocers, located in Farmington Hills, is an excellent Indian grocery store. I have visited multiple times over the last year and have not been disappointed! The store is large and has an excellent selection of items. There is a large assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. The store also has a good assortment of other items including snacks, spices, rice, frozen items, food items, cookware, and more. I have been able to find some of my favorite snacks here that I have never seen at other Indian grocery stores. During Diwali, there is a large selection of ready-to-eat sweets. The store is well-organized and items are well-stocked. There is ample parking outside. Overall, India Grocers is an excellent Indian Grocery store with a large variety of items.

I’ve seen many out dated products that are still being sold in the store . It’s not just 1 or 2 products but I’ve seen almost 5 to 6 products that are out dated . I’ve seen one from 2024 which is insane , I think this is smthng that everyone should be aware of .

I would love to give zero for this store but Google doesn’t allow you to do that. We’ve been living in the U.S. for the past 40 years, right here in Michigan. We usually shop at Costco or Walmart, but for specific Indian groceries, we’ve supported this store for years. Yesterday, while we were waiting in the checkout line, a young student politely asked about a price difference on a Thumbs Up bottle. He mentioned he had bought it for 0.99 before, and now it showed 1.47. Instead of handling it with respect or checking the system, the manager immediately accused him of lying in front of everyone. He didn’t even bother to ask his employees or verify the price in their system. Today, when my husband stopped by to grab some coriander, he happened to see the same student again. The boy told my husband that he had shown his receipt proving it was indeed 0.99, and the manager, instead of apologizing, got scared and brushed it off, saying "Fine, just this one time we’ll give it for 0.99 but from next time it’s 1.47," and then ran away. Moments later, the same manager came out again after making sure the kid had left the store. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. No customer deserves to be treated like that, especially a young student just asking a simple question. That manager should either be removed or taught how to treat people with basic respect. After witnessing this, we’re deeply disappointed and honestly disturbed by the arrogance and lack of decency shown. This is the dark side of how some people in management treat others when they think no one’s watching. Attaching the receipt picture my husband received from the student as proof.

Yesterday evening, I went to the store to pick up a few items. At checkout, there was a customer ahead of me with a full cart. Since I only had two items, I asked the cashier if another counter could be opened. She politely explained that everyone else was busy arranging items and directed me to the first billing counter. However, the same situation was there as well. I requested again, and she kindly called another staff member to help me with the billing. While that was happening, the manager came over and harshly scolded her, saying it was her responsibility to handle the billing. I felt bad for her in that moment.

Place had most Indian items you think of. Specially pre cooked and packed foods . Selection of fresh vegetables and fruits is not up to the mark. Staff very helpful. Nashta ( dry snacks) items for Gujarati and Andhra people full variety available . Masala Atta rice spices cooking oil all available .

The cash counter girl was beyond rude, I just asked where one item was, and she rolled her eyes, shrugged, and said she didn’t know, blaming her manager like it was my problem. She had a round face, round glasses, and the worst attitude imaginable. On top of that, she was banging our stuff into the bag way too loudly. I mean, it’s food, for God’s sake! This is not good service at all. Totally unprofessional and completely unacceptable!
