Mekong Market

I would give 0 start but it won’t let me write my review without 1star. But anyways, Been tired from working 10hrs shift and didn’t have the energy to cook, so I stopped by at Mekong on 36th Ave to grab dinner. I got Soyu lamb, fry corned beef, panopano coconut cream fish and coconut cream taro. Got home and started eating the fish without really paying attention, until my husband went to grab some and boom… there was a fly 🤮 I completely lost my appetite. The food wasn’t hot, the lamp was hard and hurt my teeth, and the fried corned beef was just 🤮. Fly on the fish 🤮I don’t know why this guy is cooking Samoan/polynesian food when he clearly doesn’t know how to cook it the right way, or whoever is cooking the food from the back. The way he cooks all this food honestly made me sick 🤮. I’m definitely not going back there, I’m already throwing up 🤮

They offer warm food. I've tried them three times. It has constantly been bland and fatty. I'm just not sure which is worse. Seasoned fatty food can be good. But there offerings are yuck. It's not like I got something good in the mix. Yuck.

Convenient location if you’re staying at the hotel across the street. We obviously prefer Japanese food, but this place has good SE Asian food.

The food is amazing! Been eating there for years, highly recommend the food. Only down side, is if you buy a tray of food, and mix the different foods, take note, that the foods are priced different by pound. I’ve noticed that I’ve been overcharged every time I’ve eaten there. Example: Turkey tail is 8.99 a pound, while the chicken is 5.99 a pound. Put them all in one plate, and charge everything at 8.99 a pound. Overcharging the chicken by 3 bucks a pound, Not splitting the difference. It may only be a few bucks, but to me it’s the principle. So recommend getting your food in separate containers.

Pork belly was absolutely amazing. This place is kind of like a hidden gem. I wouldn't be surprised if this place ends up being a place thats always packed. The food is just that good. talk about somebody who cares about flavor.

Tried pork belly for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed. I also highly recommend the Cuttlefish chips! Wow, worth every penny!
