Just returned home from my appointment with Dr. Johnson. I do not normally take the time to write reviews, however, I would be remiss if I did not show my appreciation with more than just a Thank You. When I went in today the services I needed changed from routine to a minor surgical removal. I was unprepared and became nervous over the procedure. THIS is the part I need to let you all know about. Both Dr. Johnson and his nurse, Gabrielle Miller, stopped and took the time to thoroughly explain what was going to happen. When a shot was mentioned Dr. Johnson told me not to worry that he would be doing this and he was very good. And he is! I felt so silly being anxious because there was no pain involved. It helped that Nurse Gabrielle literally provided a helping hand!! I could say so much more but I just want everyone to know that this was a pleasant experience with a Dr. and Nurse that are in the right field of work. No qualms recommending them to anyone. So if you do have a visit, please believe him when he says shots and surgery won't hurt. And although I got an "atta girl" for my "bravery" there was no chocolate. I'm just going to have to settle for an excellent Doctor and a very efficient and caring Nurse. Thanks to you both.

Dr. Johnson is both extremely professional and personable. He made me feel at ease and explained the treatment plan including timelines. I feel very confident in his skills as a physician. Highly recommend him.

My husband had to use Efudex on his head last week. He’s been sick ever since, but Dr. Johnson just replied "It can’t do that ". My research says different. I’m not impressed with the level of care or communication exhibited.

He called me back and fit me in same day to check a spot I was concerned about. Turns out it needed freezing. Thankful for quick response.

I had a surgical procedure at Carilion Dermatology / Roanoke last Friday to remove a melanoma from my right shoulder area (former power tanner—yep, the sun’s intensive UV rays really can give you skin cancer). This was a repeat visit, there’ve been other chest "tan marks" removed by other Carilion doctors the last few months. (I’ve given them online rave reviews, too.) Once again, Carilion matched me up with a super team: Dr. Nathan Johnson and his nurse Gabrielle. Both of them were very friendly, knowledgeable and top notch medical professionals. Their teamwork in this surgical excision was flawless, pain free (thanks, Gabrielle for just the right amount of lidocaine) and conducted with the precision of a Swiss watch maker practicing his polished skills. Yet again, I quickly realized I was in extremely capable hands. Carilion seems to have cornered the market on staffing their clinics with the best of the best. If you have the opportunity to have these 2 medical professionals working on you, consider yourself fortunate. Once again I’m giving 5 stars and two thumbs up to Carilion for how superbly well Dr. Johnson and his cohort Gabrielle navigated themselves throughout this process. Unlike a number of my medical experiences in Austin, Texas, I was treated like a fellow human being vs a faceless carbon based unit with an account and insurance. In this regard, Carilion continues to wow me with their wonderful crews of medical professionals. Kudos to all of y’all. —Stephen W Vernon
