I had an excellent experience at my dermatology visit. The staff was welcoming, professional, and made the whole process smooth from check-in to checkout. The PA was especially outstanding - knowledgeable, attentive, and took the time to explain everything clearly while making me feel comfortable and heard. It's rare to find a medical office where you feel genuinely cared for, but this team absolutely delivers. Highly recommend

I’m giving 2 stars because important policies and cost expectations were not explained upfront, and that lack of communication will now cost me significantly more money. When I first called to make the appointment, I explained that I had a small growth on my back that I wanted checked out and that I also had some skin tags I wanted removed. The woman on the phone suggested a full-body skin exam, which I agreed to since I had never been to a dermatologist before. I was asked for my insurance information, so I assumed these services would be covered or, at minimum, clearly explained in advance. My deductible and out-of-pocket maximum had already been met, and nothing in that conversation suggested there would be separate, non-covered charges, so I did not inquire about pricing. It wasn’t until the medical assistant, Lindsay (not a doctor), came into the exam room to perform the full-body skin exam and evaluate the growth on my back that I was informed of the pricing: $100 for the first removal and an additional $100 for up to 10 more. This policy was not disclosed when I scheduled the appointment, was not explained when I arrived, and is not listed on the website. The first time I heard about it was when I was already in a gown and about to begin the exam. At that point, it was not realistic for me to remember or identify every area that might need treatment beyond what I already knew existed. Additionally, when the medical assistant came in to begin the exam, she initially entered with a male assistant and began to remove my gown without first asking whether I was comfortable with a male present. I had to stop the process and state that I was not comfortable with that, which was awkward and unexpected. I was also disappointed that during the full-body skin check, no additional skin tags beyond the three I initially requested were pointed out or even mentioned. As a first-time dermatology patient, I didn’t know what to expect or what questions to ask, and the exam felt very rushed. Because of the lack of upfront explanation and limited communication during the visit, what should have been a $200 appointment will now cost me another $200—or possibly more—for the same issue, as skin tag removal is considered cosmetic and not covered by insurance. When I called a few days later after discovering additional skin tags that should have been identified and discussed during my visit, I asked Eileen whether I could return to have the remaining ones removed since I had already paid for up to 10 and was not informed of this policy ahead of time. She did not have an answer and had to check with someone else before calling me back. When I spoke with her again, I was told no—once you leave, the appointment is considered complete and you must pay again. I explained that this felt unfair given the lack of disclosure, but the answer remained no. She apologized and stated that she herself was not even aware of the pricing or policy until that day, which suggests this information is not being clearly communicated to patients. Clear communication and informed consent matter—especially when costs and personal comfort are involved. Unfortunately, due to these issues, I won’t be returning.

Moving to Port Orange 4 years ago came with the challenge of finding new healthcare providers. Thankfully, the glowing Google reviews led me to Port Orange Dermatology, and I’m so glad they did. As someone at moderate risk for skin cancer, I’ve become a regular patient, and the care I receive is consistently excellent. The doctors are proactive and thorough, always addressing concerns with compassion. The nurses and staff are equally wonderful—attentive, kind, and always ready with a smile or a laugh. Highly recommend!
