The Dermatology Specialists - South Street Seaport

This office is great. I’ve been coming here since pre- Sandy. I work in NY and live in NJ. I can always find a convenient appointment - which is not the case in the suburbs! Dr Began is very knowledgeable. They work with a specialty pharmacy to get you the drugs that you need quickly.

EDIT: This is definitely a fraudulent operation. Check out the Yelp reviews. Its been a month and still they wont send meds to my pharmacy because I wont go through their profiteering special pharmacy. Its not possible to reach a location. All calls are funneled to different places in their call center -- Intake paperwork includes mandatory arbitration agreement and waiver of right to claim medical malpractice!!! Was my first HUGE red flag. They wont let a doctor "look at your skin or make diagnoses" if you refuse to sign. Doctor talked over me, fast to prescribe 3 different things without really understanding my symptoms, seemed like she already knew what she wanted to send me away with before I got in the room. They were very pushy about using their special pharmacy instead of my local -- it all felt really scammy. Almost a month has passed and I still havent gotten them to actually send my meds to my pharmacy. Called a dozen times and IF anyone answers the phone its all funneled to their call center. Everyones giving me the run-around about the Rx and nobody actually sends it. Only gave 2 stars instead of 1 because every single human receptionist I've reached has been soooooooo sweet. I've truly never made a review or accusation like this before but after everything I'm not actually sure if this is a real doctor??????????

Would put no stars if I could literally was in the office checking in told the receptionist we called and said we were on our way in a cab about 5 minutes. After getting here its a guessing game which direction to head as tge signs are in a dark alley. We were about to head up to the doctors office after checking in and the doctor (Dina Began) calls downstairs and said she won't see us! How unprofessional and inconsiderate of anyone's time. Definately won't even give this a second chance.

Dr. Dina has been my doctor for several years now and I’m so thankful for her and her staff! Always very welcoming and accommodating. Appointment is always on time and I get the best care for my skin!

This review is solely based on the time it took. I had a 10am appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early, as instructed, and I waited 45 minutes in the lobby waiting room before I was even able to go up to the doctor’s waiting area. I understand being behind. But they should have called me and told me they were running behind. I would have rescheduled. When I got to the second waiting area, I waited another 10 minutes before even walking into the patient room to be seen by the dermatologist. The nurse that helped me when I was waiting for Dr. Began was great and very prompt. Just didn’t like that I waited 45 minutes for an appointment for a reoccurring issue without a call to reschedule. I was told the wait would be 10/15 minutes because they were behind. Not 45 minutes to an hour. I was in with the doctor for all of 3 minutes. I am just disappointed that something that should’ve taken 20 minutes tops took me over an hour.

The patient experience is fine but the wait time is ridiculous. They overbook their patients to such an extent that you wait at least an hour after your scheduled appointment time just to be seen for 5 minutes every time.

I called to request a refill for my medication. The receptionist took all my information and said it would be sent to the pharmacy - but it never was. I called the office again, and the receptionist said she created the refill request, but there was no previous refill request can be found. So I asked how the system works, and why it didn't send out last week - the receptionist said it needed to be sent to the doctor for approval and asked me to call back to check on it. I asked to speak directly with the doctor to understand why it wasn’t processed before when the previous receptionist said it was, but the person said that would require a separate request and would delay my refill even further - which doesn’t make any sense. This system is very frustrating, not patient friendly, and I will be switching dermatologists.
