I contacted Middlesex Dermatology to inquire about a prescription that had not been resolved. The nurse had previously told me to call if I needed anything or if the medication was not working. When I reached out, I was told there were no other options and was expected to pay out of pocket rather than being assisted with finding a medication covered by my insurance. There was no guidance, follow-up, or effort to help resolve the issue. The nurse and secretary were dismissive, which was disappointing after being encouraged by the nurse to call with concerns. I ultimately cancelled my appointment because I was not going to receive treatment to address the issues I was seen for. When I cancelled, the secretary’s sarcastic response was unprofessional and reflected a lack of concern for patient care. After seeing another Black woman describe a similar experience, I am concerned there may be bias in how patients are treated. Patients should not have to manage prescription issues themselves in order to receive appropriate care or encounter dismissive staff lacking professionalism and empathy.

On 10/8/25 at 8:10 am I experienced what I believe to be discriminatory and unprofessional treatment from a front desk staff member, an older white woman with blonde hair, whose behavior made me feel unwelcome and disrespected from the moment I arrived. When I approached the front desk, the staff member appeared reluctant to open the service window. I greeted her with "good morning," but she did not respond. Her tone throughout the interaction was dismissive and rude. After requesting my insurance card, she ignored me for nearly a minute while I stood holding it out, waiting for her to take it. When I asked if she still needed the card, she responded rudely , "Yes, in a second." She then asked for the name of my primary care provider, which I did not know offhand. She informed me that I would be charged without that information. I told her that if that was the case, I would prefer to cancel the appointment. She abruptly said "okay" and closed the window in a dismissive manner. At that point, I told her that she needed to improve her customer service skills, as her behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. She again replied "okay," without acknowledgment or apology. I left the office feeling disrespected and dismissed. Given her behavior and overall attitude, I believe my treatment may have been racially motivated. This experience was upsetting and unacceptable. I hope no other patient has to experience such treatment in the future.

Incompetent and unprofessional staff. Unable to fill a simple prescription of a medication that I've been on for years. I was better off traveling the 45 minutes to see my old provider instead of driving a mile to this place.

This morning, the either bed bugs* or allergy skin problems had risen to the really uncomfortable ( as in little/no sleep ) stage and I called Dr. Thomas’ office. Amazingly the office told me ( after some silences behind the scene ) that I could come in at 4 PM. Wow. I thought, am I lucky. Not so fast: after driving over from Southington, the building was locked up tight ( walked around the building knocking on the various doors without hearing any evidence of inhabitants,) got back in the car, and, checking the web site it said that the office closed at 3PM. I’ll follow up tomorrow. * Have inspected and cleaned the sleeping area and cannot see any of the typical bed bugs signs.

Dr. Thomas and Christina have both been excellent for the several years I have been seeing them. Cordial, professional and personable staff. Highly recommended!

I recently saw Christina Felizardo, PA-C for my eczema. My experience from start to finish was 10/10. She listened to my issues, help me understand, and helped me treat my eczema. She is not only very personable and insightful, but determined to find the root of the cause of the problem and was very thoughtful figuring out what was going on. Christina is the best! She is very patient, nice and answered all of my questions. Go see her she’s amazing!

An excellent experience from every angle. The staff is outstanding and very personable. It was a great way to start the day! Dr. Thomas put me at ease and took his time and answered my questions. I was very comfortable in his care. I am eager to check out his UTube videos as he has a great sense of humor. Very pleased.
