Had an appointment for my child that I had booked for a month. When I showed up they asked for my insurance card and ID. I opened my wallet and realized that I had accidentally left my license at home. I offered for them to take my other state issued card that has my photo and name on it, just to prove identity for the appointment and when I get home I would send me full license. They said no, that for her to be seen I had to have my license. They need my ID purely to make sure that I am the name listed on the insurance card to prevent insurance fraud, why would another state issued license that has my information not be accepted just to hold the appointment for my daughter? They could take my credit card, they could have held my other license there as collateral to make sure I would give my regular license but they wouldn’t do anything. They wouldn’t let me go grab it and come back to the office, or reschedule for any other time other than another entire month out. Poor customer service. The girl also said "it said to bring it in the text message we sent" and I told her that it absolutely did not and could show her it on my phone. Having my drivers license doesn’t even prove that the child I have with me is who she is booked for insurance wise…so why wouldn’t another license from the state work to simply prove parental photo and name match the child’s insurance card? They don’t even bill to the insurance until after the appointment so there is no reason to have turned care away from a child. Unacceptable and rude.

Dr. Kwong is awesome. The front office staff are standoffish and completely rude. Really have to think hard if we will go back. If I were Dr. Kwong, I would be seriously considering the negative impact her office staff has on her practice.

I had the worst appointment with Pearl Kwong and won’t be returning. Every sentence or question I started was interrupted. She did NOT want to be there or did not want us there. I came looking for answers and solutions and all we got were more prescriptions to give my baby after months of using and no results. She didn’t even examine my baby’s full body/skin before coming to her own conclusion what was wrong with her. She was extremely hurried and brushed off questions - legit questions, with how long she’d been in the practice for and made me feel ridiculous for even asking. I feel like if you’ve been in this business for 30+ years, you should have learned politeness and good bedside manner. I asked her if she could look at a spot on my baby’s foot and she sighed loudly, gave me a glare, and without even looking at my baby’s foot prescribed her another medication. She then turned and walked out of the room while dismissing us with her hand telling us something that we couldn’t understand because she was walking away. We were left in the room not knowing if we needed to stay there or go. I have never had this bad of an experience with a doctor before and we have been anxiously waiting for this appointment. Came with pictures, questions, my baby’s history of what’s been going on just to be basically dismissed and treated like we had no idea what we were talking about. I would not recommend her services to anyone and will not be going back for a follow up. She is a my way or the highway doctor and will not answer legit questions you have. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Our appointment was wonderful. The office staff was lovely, as was the doctor! We were in and out in 30 minutes. Thankful for the great experience and peace of mind!

Doctor is rude. See at your own risk! She gets Agitated very easily . Office front desk receptionist seems like you are bothering her to do her job. Not worth the hassle. One of the meanest drs I have ever seen.

Aetna customers beware! My son’s pediatrician recommended DR. Kwong as she is the only pediatric dermatologist in the area. After waiting a month for my appt date set in Feb 2025, I received a call 2 days prior to let me know my insurance was not in network. I called my insurance immediately and they confirmed Dr. Kwong was in network just Tier 2. I had no issues paying the additional fee. When I called the scheduling dept back to confirm and let them know of the verification they again stated The doctor was not in network. Upon explaining how that does not make sense, they said due to issues with billing the doctor had chosen to stop accepting Aetna. Completely understand the position of the office but why not honor the existing appointments, and give reasonable notice. After expressing my frustration with the last minute notice, I was met with " we are also frustrated" and that this was a change which happened same day which I doubt but I did not feel it to be an appropriate response. If the staff is frustrated that is an internal matter. The receptionist lacked empathy or willingness to assist. I asked if there was another doctor and told no. No alternatives or solutions such as maybe self pay. I disconnected the call and begin calling other dermatologist in the area. I later received a call back which went to voicemail and the message left was that they indeed had an alternative dermatologist at another location but the receptionist did not know they saw children. At this point I had already booked with another practice. I just want to express my disappointment with how this practice handled my situation as it was completely unprofessional in my opinion.

Love the physician but the front desk staff is rude and unprofessional with their attitudes. I would go somewhere else but can’t find another dermatologist in the area .
