Dr Tafeen provided my entire family with years of expert advice and care. Loved the way he wrote a detailed overview of the visit and really listened to me. Miss him!
Dr. Tafeen has treated a number of my skin conditions, including skin cancer. Obviously, I consider him to be very knowledgeable. I appreciate his mix of modern medicine and applications, along with natural and old school recommendations. He has also saved me $$. If you do not prefer a doctor who possesses both wit and charm, you may be happier elsewhere.
I wanted to try this place but the communication is very weird. I was given a referral from my primary care doctor, as soon as I called around December or 2022 I was told by a lady that new patients wouldn’t be able to be seen until July. Then a few weeks later, another lady called me and said that I had a referral in and that she could schedule me for a visit for 2-3 weeks from the time she called me. I told her that I found another place since I was communicated the first thing about not being seen until July. I called today, even with a referral still in the system and was told the SAME exact thing that I couldn’t be seen until August. It’s truly frustrating because everyone is saying different things, but I will make sure I remember and ask for names moving forward since nobody seems to know anything or help with the situation. Highly disappointed.
Dr Tafeen was a wonderful Dr. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Extremely nice to meet him...he was so sweet and put me at ease immediately. Very smart, really likeable doctor. So happy to have found him.
Doctor Sheffield is a good doctor, but the billing practices and communication of terms is horrible. I am a patient there since 2008 and they treat me like a new patient in order to increase my bill and cause me head aches filing an appeal with my insurance provider. I made an appointment for September to see the doctor and nothing was mentioned about becoming a NEW patient all over again after 3 years. This is very 'scam' like and a poor way to treat someone. I intend not to pay the 'new' patient fee since I am an existing patient. They had a folder on me already. I saw it myself as they reference past visits. Get real Carolina Dermatology and shame on your office staff for treating me this way. Public beware! This must be a way to force some extra income on their books. I complained to my insurance company and the office that handles their coding and billing (Tammy Bryant at Medical Business Associates and she said it is set up at the office level at Carolina Dermatology. When you make your appointment you need to make sure you understand this. They won't volunteer this information. BAD OFFICE people.
I was prescribed a medication that is only approved for people under 18 years of age and I came in with my 16 year old daughter(who was seen as well) so I'm clearly over 18. Dr Tafeen was very obnoxious and almost refused to pronounce my daughter's name correctly. They are scam artists because they have my money and I still have no medication for my skin.
Beware!!! Never go see Dr Tafeen. I went in for stronger cream for jock itch my last dermitologist said I had when I was younger. Not only did the cream he gave me not work but I got something Completely new. That I never had before. Some sort of pox virus. I got from going to this place. He didnt even think I had jock itch but instead this rash from a pox virus. I looked it up myself and I had no symptoms of the pox virus before I went to see him. Then 6 months later I started to develop symptoms of what he thought I had. Never in my life have I had these symptoms before I went to see Dr Tafeen. I got something completely new and its ruining my sex life!!! Never go see this guy. He will give you another problem that you never had before instead of fix the one you went to go see him for.
