Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital

Community of Grand Rapids, Michigan this hospital is purely not organized, not professional, and not all staff that we encounter with my love ones experience was an issue, but it was more nasty attitudes on the labor and delivery floor, than I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime at hospital. The negative energy and passive aggressive approaches that were presented to my love one was so intense. I literally watch these nurses talk to a first time mother so cold and callous. I watched staff come in and not introduce themselves by name. I watched MSW entering assuming they can just come in dividing family an atmosphere, not including the father, and assuming the mother needs to agree any resource they offer or suggest. Thank you, for offering but if a woman says no thank you, I’m not interested in that service. Respect that choice. Communicate better and respectfully. Take diversity training with other ethnicities, cultures, generations, and communities, the world doesn’t all function off corporate America approaches. Also, retrain staff how to safely remove PPE, wash hands and not get blood all throughout the room. I witness the most bloodiest epidural procedure, bloodiest cervix checks and pure nastiness! Attitude, Energy, and transparency along with safety is essential and powerful for the bonding, healing and recovery of childbirth for mom and baby. Do better! My love ones experience that was beautiful, were because of Dr.Brown, Nurse Rilee, Nurse CJ, and Nurse Shannon. But Nurse Ashlee , I can’t even remember the first one , and the MSW worker oh and all 7 of the nosey nursing staff at the nursing station in whom I had to tell yall all to find something else to do besides be nosey and gossip, pure unprofessional. May my love one know to select a better hospital next time. Please don’t even bother to respond, because just reading how Trinity Health has responded to the other reviews, I rather you use the energy to make the changes then be superficial and give a fake response. Save it. You’ve been exposed. Do better. It’s now 1/17/26 and I’m adding this to my post because my love one is still discussing how she was treated and I don’t make post about Racism but I witness on 1/5 through 1/6 was pure racist, typical and stereotypical behavior from the staff in which they know their hearts and thoughts and what were sitting and running through them as they did the job they wouldn’t have if humans didn’t come to that hospital. Pure disgusting! Communities of Grand Rapids don’t you ever think it cannot occur to you or your loved ones! Please report, post on Google and quit doing business with them if it does!

Saturday night, my fistula clotted. This is the access I rely on for life-sustaining dialysis. My care team has been very clear. If this happens on a weekend, go straight to the ER. Tell them exactly what is happening. Interventional radiology should be called immediately. If a fistula is left clotted for 24 hours or more, you are very likely to lose it. This is my third fistula. I have already lost two. I went to the ER at 11pm. They called interventional radiology. They refused to come in and treat me. It was Saturday night afterall. Probably asleep. I was told to go home and return if the pain worsened or if I experienced tingling. I was discharged around 6am. By 10am, the pain had increased and my fingers were tingling. I returned to Trinity ER. The physician on call was visibly frustrated. Interventional radiology again refused to come in. I was sent home at 2pm. At that point, my husband drove me to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I was treated immediately. They understood the urgency and the narrow window involved with fistula clotting. The contrast was stark. I am deeply disappointed and ashamed of how Trinity handled this. I would not trust them with my care again. Shame on you, Dr. Cameron Richardson. If you do not want to be called in when a patient is facing an urgent, time-sensitive complication, then hospital medicine may not be the right place to practice. Weekends do not pause physiology. Clots do not wait for business hours. And patients who depend on life-sustaining access do not get a second chance when that window is missed. This was not an inconvenience. It was a refusal to act when action was required. That distinction matters.

2yrs ago I had The Watchman inserted near my heart. I had the Dr Thormeijer team. The entire team is wonderful ...I would like to make a couple comments about Jennifer Gole. Her bedside manners, listening skills and the ability to explain things in English! Very helpful 🙂 I have enjoyed being her patient! She is always very concerned how I m doing "outside the Watchman Procedure". Jennifer is very willing to scoot up her wheely chair and listen to the health issues I have.Very meaningful to me who has a number of issues. She made comments about possible solutions ect. Jennifer closed our time together by stating "We are always here for u Pat" "Anyone on our team"! That comment goes further than anyone realizes. BTW I graduated the "Watchman" Program! I m sad because I won't b a patient of Jennifer.....I m also happy I was able to spend the time with Jennifer during my appts!!! Love Ya Jennifer Thanks no really Thank U for ALL U Do! I Wish I could give this hospital a 0 star rating. I work in healthcare and went here coming from my 12hr shift. Im waiting almost an hour which is fine, I know its shift change. But this Older hispanic man comes in with chest and body pain. He was literally clutching his chest. And they are screaming at him because he couldnt understand them. Yelling and treating him so rude. I helped one of the people at the check in desk get his feet up. Again I work in healthcare and it was not that hard to move his feet. They took him to get vitals still yelling at him while hes trying to explain his pain. He constantly says he needs water and they say they dont have any. I KNOW they have little cups and faucet water. Puh lease. I confronted them about it and they said he just has to wait as he is in excruciating pain. Then they start yelling at me because they werent doing their job. I actually take care of people and not just work at the front desk. Trust me when I say that man needed immediate attention and didnt get it. I pray he got back there. These hospitals need to do better because this was a terrible experience.

I would give this hospital 20 stars if I could. I just had knee replacement surgery when we had to bring my 8 year old autistic son in for oral surgery...from the receptionist that checked us in, all the nurses we met, the anesthesiologist, our dentist Dr. Ladue of Smilies pediatric dentistry we were treated so kindly which is rare for the hospital in Big Rapids where we live. Our nurse even helped me get my leg propped up and got me a ice pack and I wasn't even the patient. I felt so much better with them taking my baby down for oral surgery just because they showed they actually CARE! MY BABY IS MY WORLD THANK YOU!!!! Keep up the great work!

My experience at St. Mary's Hospital was the most terrifying of my life. After a car accident in 2019, I arrived seeking treatment for a head injury and dehydration. Instead, I was treated as a mental patient. I was restrained and sedated, and a full pelvic examination was performed without my consent—even after I explicitly said no and pleaded with them not to remove my pants. I was held against my will, forcibly restrained, and ignored as I begged for someone to listen or to call my family. The next morning, the staff filed a court petition with information I know to be untrue, resulting in me being locked away for days for a mental illness I did not have. A judge later saw the error and released me, but the damage was done. The staff at this hospital stripped me of my dignity and my rights. The emotional trauma and feeling of powerlessness have left me with lasting flashbacks and nightmares. Tragically, this was not my last encounter with this institution. My mother passed away at Saint Mary's (now Trinity Health) in late 2021 under deeply disturbing circumstances that I believe point to gross negligence and medical malpractice. While heavily sedated with high-dose fentanyl in the ICU, my mother called me in a state of terror, stating she believed the staff was trying to kill her. I immediately called the hospital at 5 AM and rushed there, furious and demanding to speak to her medical team. I begged them to address her fears, to stop whatever was terrifying her, and to transfer her to another facility for proper care—a request my siblings and I made repeatedly out of fear for her life. I was dismissed and promised a callback. Later, a doctor and nurse called to report my mother had become "combative and highly aggressive." I explained that her terror was a direct reaction to the heavy sedation and pleaded for them to provide comfort and compassion. Instead, they cut off all communication. For a day and a half, I heard nothing. I then discovered they had placed her on a respirator without my knowledge or consent. There is no conceivable way my heavily sedated mother, in a medical coma, could have legally consented to this procedure. No one in our family was ever asked. To make matters worse, the hospital had erased my name from her board, deliberately excluding me from her care decisions and contacting distant family members instead to make choices I was already communicating about. They failed her medically and violated her rights. She died shortly after, on her birthday. The final indignity came when we were finally allowed to say our goodbyes. We were confronted with the horrific sight of my mother’s body almost fully exposed, a massive respirator lying on top of her, dried tears on her face, and her breasts uncovered for all her grieving children to see. I had to ask the staff to cover her and show her some small measure of respect in death. Their coldness was visible on their faces as they proceeded to ask my younger siblings if they wanted to "pull the plug"—to make a decision to end the life the hospital had already taken. In her final days, the hospital gave us conflicting updates that left our family overwhelmed and afraid. At times, they told us she was recovering and "doing well," offering false hope. Then, without warning, they would say she was "not doing well," that her condition was worsening, and then that she was gone. They failed her medically, violated her civil rights, and robbed our family of the chance to be there for her. I share my story, and hers, in the hope of preventing another family from suffering this same nightmare and injustice.

The pmu really helped my gf however for some reason, her jeans and her dragon ball Z shirt end up coming up missing, I asked them 3 to maybe 4 different times to find her stuff and they still didn't, I even talked to the social worker that works there, Nothing. What's the point of these cameras? If you can't keep up with other people's stuff. I'm gonna consider it being stolen by them. I've been hearing stories about these nurses, stealing from people And I got no reimbursement from them Neither. Be careful what you bring up there.
