I spent 10 days at this hospital in December and got the BEST care I’ve ever had. I needed a 2nd surgery and I’ve been here for 3 days and again the care was excellent. I did have a problem with one nurse but after reporting it to patient relations, it was addressed immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again if ever needed.
This hospital is nothing but for money. I have lost both my Brother and Grandma almost in the same way and they treated the situation the exact same. Only show care the first day then the rest they’re trying to get you out as fast as possible. Gave my family an option to remove equipment where we said no on, but yet they do it anyways then transfer into sad un-checked up room until the patient is gone.. I understand there are tons and tons of people that come in and out of this hospital with being in the medical field myself. But to see two of my family members go through the same treatment before they left doesn’t sit right with me. Do more then just think about the money you’re making.
As a woman who birthed my baby at butterworth LD and as a former RN in the unit for years .. I can tell you with unique clarity that this is a top notch place to welcome your baby into the world. The nurses care deeply for the patients and babies, you won't find employees who are more passionate about their work than on this labor and delivery unit. I will be delivering my next baby here and would recommend it to family and friends. The doctors are highly skilled and experienced, and deal with the most complex cases in the state but also the simple straightforward births too.
The second time I had my Celiac Plexus Block, doctors only had me in recovery for an hour and I told them I had passed out last time and I wasn’t feeling good enough to go and they just disregarded what I said and stood over me talking about how I need to get dressed and asking if I wanted a wheelchair in my way out. Then I was feeling awful and got in the car and told my dad I was going to pass out. Then I passed out, woke up, passed out, woke up drenched in sweat, felt awful and then threw up and couldn’t breathe. When we finally got to ER my rate was 79/59 and my BP is never below 98
When this was Spectrum Health everything was great, and affordable. Now you are nickeled and dimed to death for the dumbest things making this almost as bad as going to a hospital in Illinois. On top of that they tack on unnecessary lab work that is completely unrelated to what you come in for. I highly recommend checking the labs they are trying to get you to do because 1, you can refuse the unnecessary labs, and 2, it is illegal for them to slip in labs that you did not discuss, or argree to getting done. On top of illegal labs the billing department is completely incompetent. You can talk to 3 different people, and get 3 different answers as to what was supposed to be billed, what you already paid for, and what they are trying to double, or triple dip for what you've already paid. This cancer of health care that Spectrum Health sold to is disgusting, and should be avoided at all cost if you want actual help being treated for anything.
Don’t waste your breath. I felt I needed to go to the ER because I couldn’t sit up, my eyes had started to jaundice, and the room was spinning. It took 3 times to go there to be taken seriously and find out I needed immediate surgery for a foreign object found in my lower belly area and to have it removed. staff found out I was uninsured and cancelled the surgery. The doctor decided to document that I was autistic and showing drug seeking symptoms as an addict. I do not have autism and do not abuse drugs. I also found out later they never documented that they recommended surgery
They do not work hard to provide the highest quality of care. I’m convinced this place is only interested in collecting organs, tissue samples, and blood samples for research. They removed a 2 cm mass from my best friend, cut him open in 6 spots for this. They said it was cancer prior to arrival, that’s why he let them sign him up for surgery. But upon further questioning before surgery they had no clue what it was, when it would be discarded, or if it would even be discarded. They asked to remove extra tissue and blood for research, yet couldn’t directly answer any questions we had about the surgery. When we asked how long it would take pathology to find out, there was no answer. We asked to keep said removed body part, that was a hard no. "Needed for research" The lady also added that this hospital has the largest "donated" organ bank in the country. He was put in a faulty bed when we first got here, multiple nurses stated it need to be switched because it was so broken but no one switched it. Multiple nurses laughed about how "everything" was broken in the hospital. When going through surgery, that is not comforting. Honestly, nothing was. No information on procedures, it’s freezing cold in here, the nurses obviously do not care. Multiple calls ignored for a long duration of time, stated they would empty piss jugs, and walked away without doing that. We asked for a warm blanket, and Laura came in saying she "wasn’t going to bug us anymore", when we called for her, we wanted her to bug us. She also prioritized ordering her lunch over fixing the machine attached to his legs to prevent blood clots. Walked in, throws an ice pack at him, walked out and ordered her food. (She could’ve hit him in the abdomen) There was blood on the chair that I had to clean up myself. Gross. They were supposed to bring clear liquids for him to eat and it’s been hours since that. They had his bill ready before his recovery room. The environment is not clean. Hazardous waste all over. Especially in the bathroom. I can expect more to happen, I’ll update this review. Isn’t it illegal to have all side rails up on a hospital bed? Isn’t that a restraint? Overall, what the hell do you guys have people paying for? This is not a sterile environment, nor somewhere good for people to heal.
