I wish Google would let you select zero stars. I’ve given L.O. Eyecare multiple chances, and the wait times are consistently unacceptable. The staff is nice and Dr. LeTarte is nice, but that does not make up for the ongoing lack of respect for patients’ time. Every single appointment, I wait at least 30 minutes past my scheduled time just to be taken back for glasses checks and dilation — before even seeing the optometrist. Today was the breaking point. My appointment was scheduled for 3:00 PM. At 3:50 PM, I was told I was "third in line." Since then, five other patients were called back ahead of me. No explanation. No updates. I am finally sitting in the chair to see my optometrist at 4:45 PM — nearly two hours after my appointment time. I have heard that wait times at the Grand Ledge office are nothing like this, which makes the situation here even more frustrating. This feels like a scheduling and management issue specific to this location. If you cannot stay on schedule, appointments need to be spaced out appropriately or patients need to be informed upfront about extended wait times. People plan work, childcare, and transportation around these appointments. I will not be returning to this location.

I've been going here for a few years now. I like this place even better than my hometown eye doctor that I grew up going to. Staff has always been very efficient, and even when I was there the other day and they had signs up warning that they were understaffed/wait times might be longer, I was still able to get in and out fairly quickly. They pretty much have things down to a science. In addition, despite them being so busy, the employees there were very sweet and conversational, and didn't make me feel like their time was more important that getting my needs met. They've never made me feel pressured to do or buy anything EVER, they've always given me my options, and accept my answers without trying to push anything, which is a vastly different experience than I've had with ANY other eye doctor. It's a pretty big building with quite a few people (patients and staff), so I remember that being a little intimidating when I first got there, but they really have things down to a science, so don't let it keep you from going here! They're fantastic!

I've been to this location maybe five times. Today's experience was very good. They saw me on a emergency basis, got me in within 10 minutes, and got me out within half an hour after that. They explained the situation, wrote me a prescription, and answered all my questions. I have no complaints whatever. I mention all this because my previous interactions with LOEye have been mixed. Sometimes they are responsive, and sometimes they tell me that they don't have time for my nonsense. They are very professional, but some of their practitioners are really unwilling to engage. I have never doubted their competence, but they sometimes act as if they have better things to do then see patients. Anyway, today's visit was definitely a five-star.

I am somebody who has neglected eye care for a while because I was too nervous to make my first appointment on my own, the receptionist was my worst nightmare. She was a little standoffish/irritated at me because I didn’t realise I needed to provide a bunch of difficult to access insurance information/SSN’s that weren’t my own before I arrived. No problem, just took a minute to find and I think the lady on the other end of the phone was just maybe having a bad day and I wasn’t quick enough for her. She was sighing and clearing her throat at me and I had her on speaker, after hanging up even my sister said she was rude. Nonetheless, my glasses were $70 and my doctor was incredibly sweet even though the experience over the phone made me a little nervous for my appointment. Everyone else when I was there was really nice also; the appointment moved smoothly and my glasses came in quickly. A win is a win so I’ll probably come back just beware if you have anxiety calling to schedule things.

I came in to have my eyelids raised, family genic condition that effected my eyesight daily. Before this surgery my right pupil would be almost closed completely while my left pupil was 50% covered. The surgery was completed successfully. There is slight bruising from this type of surgery, but it is clearing up daily. I had surgery on Hanuary 29th, and the stitches removed on February 4th. I've included my before picture as well as the daily pictures. I am very pleased as I can properly see once more.

Update: I contacted the team. Was told I would get a follow up from someone else to escalate. Spoilers - I heard nothing and then got a bill for the exam that was supposed to be to check my eye injury, not an exam. Lovely, right? Update: I took my prescription and got glasses made only to discover that my prescription was very off - within two minutes of wearing my glasses I was physically ill/headache and couldn’t function. I went for a second exam (different place) and paid out of pocket. Eye doctor had to look twice at my script and said ‘well, that’s not right, no wonder you can’t wear those.’ Mind you, I had to go to another dr already for contacts fitting/script because I wasn’t even given a choice at Lo Eye Care. I was shuffled through, dismissed and insurance charged for an exam, while my eye injury (primary reason) was essentially ignored. I just received my bill for a copay on the eye exam that was supposed to be an eye injury follow up - and where I got the script that is so wrong. Waiting for confirmation I can return my glasses and may be out more money. What a waste. I went from trauma to drama with this one and I regret being referred to Lo Eye care, no one should go through this. Previous: Coming in for an emergency eye injury that was scary, I didn’t expect to feel hurried and dismissed. Weeks later, my follow up appointment was actually a full exam with dilation (I was not warned of this/would have scheduled myself very differently) - and my primary reason (the eye injury) was not addressed until I asked at the very end. An oversight, no pun intended. I was handed a prescription for ‘minor vision correction’ ‘to do with what I will’ after noting that I wouldn’t know any normal processes since I haven’t needed an eye doctor most of my life. ‘You already wear glasses don’t you? No. I don’t. I came in for an injury, and the fact that was continuously overlooked is astounding. The care I received was polite adjacent (robotic), but hurried and completely not about the care I sought or needed. My chart was ignored, my injury brushed over. Both times I left feeling angry/frustrated and ironically, unseen. That is not the care I wish for others who have a terrifying and painful injury.

If you love chaos, confusion, and spending your weekend in a waiting room, feeling like a number not a person then LO Eyecare is the place for you! If it’s your first visit and you dream of a 3.5 hour Saturday experience that includes alot of waiting, being shuffled between a few different exams rooms and waiting areas, required dilatation of eyes and your vision is so blurry you stumble in to the area to choose new frames (that you can't see) listening to terrible music, with more .......you guessed it..........waiting then look no further. LO Eyecare delivers that marathon experience you never asked for. And the fun doesn’t stop there! Want to schedule or ask a quick question? Hope you enjoy quality time on hold, because you’ll get plenty of it. But the real highlight is the contact lens confusion. You can’t just pick up your trial lenses oh no, you have to book a separate fitting appointment with the exact same doctor (no substitutions allowed). Since it wasn't clearly stated, this is your warning. Also, don't miss the appointment that you were told was going to be cancelled because of the confusion, except it wasn't. So the waiting to see if I get charged a $50 fee will be exciting. And to mix it up even more, they are so busy that you can't get a fitting appointment for a week, but unfortunately that week happens to overlap with a 10 day out of state hunting trip that's been in the planning for seven years. Perfect, now you can stretch the simple process into a full three week odyssey. I mean, is it REALLY important to see clearly while hunting? Probably not. What could go wrong? And still waiting almost 2 weeks later for my glasses that my previous eye doctor had in less than a week.
