recently had the pleasure of working with Jessica M., the appointment scheduler for Dr. Crimmel in the Pain Management department at Johns Hopkins University Hospital Bayview Campus, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am for her exceptional support. On the day before my critical neck treatment, Jessica went above and beyond to ensure that I had seamless access to the care I needed. Navigating the complexities of health insurance can be daunting, and I faced significant challenges with my Medicare coverage being turned down. However, after she was informed of the situation, Jessica took immediate action. Across 11 phone calls throughout the day, she tirelessly helped me work through the extensive paperwork required for my Veterans insurance approval. Jessica's patience and professionalism were evident in every interaction. She maintained a courteous and empathetic demeanor despite the urgency of the situation, which greatly alleviated my stress. Her ability to handle the intricacies of my appointments—turning them on and off as needed while coordinating vital information—was nothing short of remarkable. She displayed an impressive understanding of the processes involved, ensuring that I had all the information I needed at each step of the way. The level of service provided by Jessica reflects her capability to perform her duties with precision and care. It is rare to encounter someone who combines professionalism with genuine compassion, and Jessica exemplifies this blend beautifully. She ensured that my experience was as smooth as possible, and I am truly appreciative of her efforts at a moment's notice. Thank you, Jessica, for your dedication and exemplary service! You made a significant impact on my healthcare journey, and I truly appreciate everything you did to assist me. You are a valuable asset to the team at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, and I wholeheartedly recommend your services to others in need.
My experience at John Hopkins was poor, and I would not recommend them for patient-based care (as opposed to research or specific procedures). The neurologist, Dr. Chua, I saw was polite superficially, but overall did not listen to myself, or other doctors who made multiple attempts to discuss concerns with him. In the time I spent under John Hopkins care, not only was the health issue I was sent to them for not helped, but the impersonal and negligent care I received resulted in several other health conditions worsening that directly stemmed from his recommendations. Questions I would ask about my health were answered with literature quotes and fee-based options; rather than getting a direct answer to my questions I had about the direction of my care and worsening outcomes. I needed to bring my father to later appointments, and received a different response with his presence than when I had voiced the same things at previous appointments and messages. The neurologist I saw started care by dismissing an MRI that showed brain abnormalities, the issue that resulted in my previous neurologists referring me to Hopkins. He also chose to stop multiple medications previous neurologists had put me on for years. When I voiced that I was having worsening issues, I was dismissed and called "delusional" by him and his colleague. Later when my complaints were validated medically, rather than take accountability he said I should have been seeing other neurologists as he wasn’t responsible for said conditions. Prior to that, he had no concerns about if my issues were covered under his wheelhouse. He did not offer any help to secure or be referred to said specialists, even when directly asked, and did not follow through on multiple requests to contact my Primary Care–who he still had the incorrect name and location for despite her facility making many requests to him over a period of months. The provider in question abruptly stopped correspondence when he was directly asked about the decision to stop medications and the outcomes it had on my health.
I'm a patient with Dr Liang who works for the Center for Transgender and expansive health and let me just say that the magic she worked on my phalloplasty is beyond what I expected! She is amazing, listens well and will provide all the information she can if you have any questions. She will even break down medical terms and explain it if need be. I HIGHLY recommend her to any one looking into getting surgery.
This in no way reflects the doctor who was a great doctor. This has to do with my surgery I had on July 21st for breast surgery. I got there at 6:30am and didn't leave until around 9pm. The placed three metal jagged edge pieces in my breast and messed one up, only to have another placed in. I understand mistakes happen but I was given nothing for the pain except Tylenol. It was excruciating/unbearable from the time I arrived until late evening when I left. I even told them I was in so much pain but again I got Tylenol which gave me no relief and I sat there in so much pain for hours. When I woke up from the surgery I was crying due to how much pain I was in. I had to beg for something for the pain which never have I done or would think I would have to. It was such a horrible experience. Its a shame because I had a really great doctor but this experience I want to share to make you think twice before having surgery at this hospital. My experience was no short of a nightmare that I can still recall. I'm supposed to surgery on my thumbs but I am not sure I want to schedule after this experience.
My son had an appointment today ..The doctors and nurse did a great job made 7 floor adult medicine a nurse Shannon and Doctor Dong💖went above and beyond ❗️❗️
My mom was there in September it a horrible experience that time. They was very understaffed and they was a lot of people just left out in the hallways with no rooms. Especially my mom she was only in ER. FOR ONE WHOLE DAY. !!! I Feel Like they could have done a little bit more. Now back in December 2023. They service was BETTER.
The service was amazing from start to finish. Had an outpatient surgery here and it was flawless. I felt so comfortable and knew exactly what was going to happen before and after my same-day surgery. Met with all the major players in the room for my surgery and couldn't not have been happier.
