Let me just say this was the best hospital I have ever stayed in. Usually hospitals have at least a few rude or unprofessional staff members, but I did not encounter a single person here who I felt didn't want the best for me. I didn't wait long at all to be seen (spent about 6 hours in a hallway, but they were busy and still I don't feel like I was ever forgotten. Huge shoutout to Josh the tech who kept checking on me.) I was then moved to the short stay ward, where I was for 5 days. My room was very spacious and comfortable, and I was checked on very frequently, communicated with like I was an actual human being (surprisingly rare in other hospitals I've been in), and my identity, autonomy and choices were respected. I had issues with a treatment option they pitched, and they worked hard and found me a better solution. I'm always terrified to be admitted to hospitals, but if I ever have to again, I won't be scared to go here. All of my care team was incredible. Thank you so much Nestor for being so kind and lifting my spirits when I didn't feel well, thank you Indeya for having conversations with me as you did your checks. Thank you Dr. Chen and Dr. Osbourne for treating me with dignity despite my condition. I sadly don't remember your name, but thank you to the kind lady who cleaned my room and had a conversation about my mental health while you did. Thank you David. Thank you transport Omar for getting me places safely. Thank you Jason for caring and helping me understand what was going on. Thank you Eric, Jeff, Linda. And thank you to the many who's names I forgot - every single one of you is incredible and whatever they pay you, you deserve more. Love you all.
I cannot express how grateful I am for Dr. Jose Luis De Cardens and Dr. Chigozirin Ekeke. From the very first time I met Dr. Jose Luis De Cardenas, he told me he would treat me like family — and he truly did. He was there for me when I needed him the most, showing nothing but kindness, compassion, and genuine care. He is truly an angel. He referred me to my surgeon, Dr. Chigozirin Ekeke, who literally saved my life. Dr. Ekeke is kind, respectful, and incredibly skilled. His care made a life-changing experience feel safe and hopeful, and I will forever be thankful. Both doctors made a lasting impact on my life, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for compassionate, high-quality care.
My sister ended up in ICU there, bedridden, probably most ICU patients are. Here's an example of her level of care: When they cleaned her after bowel movements, they just left it in the garbage can. When I asked, they said they only take it out once a day. She had surgery that was unsuccessful. Dr showed up at 6 a.m. the next day to tell her. Nobody in the family was there, she was medicated, we were unable to get a response from a Dr until 6 a.m. the next day. If u r not there for the 6 a.m. rounds, u won't get ANY information. There are a ton more examples. I've had family in hospitals before. The poop gets taken out each time. The cafeteria has what looks like mildew on the grout of the tile floor. Cafeteria - not restroom. The papertowel dispensers work like toilet paper dispensers. Not even spring loaded. Stick your hand in there and dig around for paper. I'll bet the football players don't get sent there when they're sick.
After completing the hospital survey Ive decided to post a review on Google. Ive recently had a Major Cancer surgery at UM Medicine in Ann Arbor. Im so grateful and thankful to this team of Doctors, I want to say publicly just how good my care was during the time i was there. 5 days and 4 nights. I want to recognize(for their work and dedication) this team of Doctors for Excellence during that time. Dr Chaz Luke Stucken, Dr Lenze, and Dr Yu. There are others involved on this team but i was unable to get their names. This was my Third and hopefully final Cancer. Ive been fighting and Battling for three years now. These Doctors I’ve mentioned are in my opinion absolutely The Best Care I’ve ever received. They deserve the highest rating possible along with the Nurses that cared for me also. I would recommend my family and friends to go to Ann Arbor for Cancer or any serious illness. They kept me comfortable, explained and talked and especially Listened during my stay. IM forever grateful to my team of Doctors as IM about to beat Cancer again. I don’t have one negative thing or comment to report. Everything was The very best every minute I was there. Thank you so much Team! I’ll never forget the time I was there.
I was Blessed to have had the most amazing medical professionals working with me. I had a stem cell transplant. I had a pleasant experience with everyone. Well almost everyone 2 of the nurses were not so good. A male nurse he was very rude. I asked that not come near me again and request was granted. Then there was the one nurse, female, she hated being at work. She complained a few times coming into my room! She was a great nurse. I think she just had to many shifts working back to back!!! She stopped complaining after we prayed for her and giving her hugs😭 and love ♥️!!!
Thank you to the hospital, doctors, and nurses who care more about the patient than money. May God reward you for your kindness. I swear to God, people of America, you will not find a hospital that cares for you like this one. It doesn't discriminate based on your religion, color, or race. It cares for you whether you are an immigrant or a citizen, whether you have health insurance or not. They will care for you. I am writing this thank you because I lost my children at another hospital called Corwell Health Dearborn. My wife was five months pregnant when she started bleeding, so I took her to the hospital. Because of the negligence they showed my wife and children, she bled uncontrollably while they searched for health insurance for over an hour and a half. After that, they took her to the emergency room, gave her two sleeping pills, and told me to take her home. She was in pain, and the bleeding wouldn't stop. I took her home, heartbroken, wondering what would happen to my wife and children. Then I took her back to her doctor, but the nurse who was with her refused to see her, and the bleeding still hadn't stopped. I took her back to the same hospital, and when we entered, the tragedy occurred. We lost my children, and my wife is now in shock because, after ten years, I finally became pregnant, and in the end, the hospital and fate took them. I will never forgive them before God, and that is why I am so loyal to this hospital, this legendary hospital, for its compassionate treatment of patients. Thank you so much.
Leaders and Best: The University of Michigan has the best hospital in the state and one of the best in the nation. When your case is super serious, they fly you here. It’s harder to park and it can take longer to get a bed but this is where you go to get the bottom of issue. It’s like a giant airport: overwhelming in size (and the parking can be scary) but you can get to more Places and answers from here.
