Customer Reviews
HealthPartners Dental Clinic St. Paul Como has a rating of 3.1 out of 5 based on over 49 reviews on Google
I was a bit worried about all the negative reviews, but I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience! Dr. Barsness did my root canal (assisted by Christina), and it went incredibly well. They are both very talented and very patient-focused. I experienced no pain at all during the procedure and the recovery has been extremely swift. Thanks to the both of them for doing such a wonderful job!!
My kids and I have gone here several times pre-covid, as my insurance is through Health Partners. Suddenly, I found myself unable to get us in no matter how many times I requested an appointment online or called. In fact, not a single Health Partners clinic would take us for about 2 years. I believe they avoid us because we're on medical assistance (even though they agreed to work with M.A. at some point, hence the Health Partners insurance plan M.A. offers). My daughter is in desperate need of braces. The orthodontist said before they put them on, she will need to make sure she can get in for regular 6 month checkups, consistently. Unfortunately, Health Partners in general makes that impossible. Every time one of us goes to the dentist at any clinic, we're lectured about coming in so sporadically. I try to explain that they're incredibly difficult to get appointments with, but no solution is ever offered. I ask after every single appointment to schedule us for 6 months out, and nobody ever does. It's always, "we'll call you." I just got off the phone with Como after getting off the phone with Midway. I point blank asked Como how the hell I get us in regularly and explained the braces situation. Their answer was to call Midway, who already informed us that although my daughter and I weren't seen since last February (2024) and my son was seen in October or 2024, the soonest we can get in is October of this year. I suppose my daughter just won't get her braces then, despite severe overcrowding causing issues. Bottom line, if you're on Medical Assistance, don't expect to have access to regular dental care. Edit: One more thing. Stay away from Health Partners TMD clinic in Lake Elmo. I can't review them since they don't have a set up for it, so I'm adding it here. I made an appointment with them back in March. They scheduled me for June. They canceled my appointment just a week in advance, saying the MD was on vacation. I guess they didn't bother to tell me until a week beforehand? They had literally months to tell me? What a waste of my time. Receptionist rescheduled me on the spot for August. Low and behold, same thing. She called and cancelled my appointment a week before I was supposed to come in, and then told me they would not be seeing me at all because I'm a "new patient." It is the only Health Partners TMD place, and my insurance is of course, Health Partners MA. I saw this MD back in 2021 when I first started having issues, but I guess that doesn't matter. I cannot be seen if problems persist, I suppose. They wasted my time and put my health on the line. I would have shopped for another provider had I known they would pull this B.S. It's just not fair. The entire left side of my face looks like it's 10 years older than my right side, I experience constant hypertension in my left side of my neck, I get brain fog and vertigo, might even lose my jaw, but I guess it's all whatever.
I went in for a dental cleaning and to have an existing composite filling—previously done by another dentist at my previous clinic—evaluated, as it was causing me pain when chewing. By chance, I was assigned to Dr. Vuong, who quickly identified the issue and expertly redid the filling. Thanks to her, I’m now completely pain-free and couldn’t be happier! The hygienist and staff at the Como location are also super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Vuong and the team at the Como Clinic.
Yes, the building feels outdated and a bit cramped/gloomy. However, my care with Vanessa Burton (recent addition to this location), was excellent. She took the time to explain things and lay out options for me to choose from. Most dentists I've been to seem rushed and as if my questions are inconveniencing them. Not the case with Doctor Burton.
I’ve been to this clinic a few times and have been treated kindly by the staff, everyone is friendly and is competent in their respective roles. Dr Pancholi has been very helpful and excellent to work with. Regarding a previous review that states the building is grimy—not sure what constitutes grimy to this individual but the facilities are clean and orderly, despite the fact that the structure is older. This isn’t the shiniest, newest facility, but it’s surely a far cry from grimy or dirty.
They are booked out for at least a month for wisdom teeth surgery, and only offer ONE emergency slot a day, where they said they would only pull one of them. I had a severe infection in my jaw that was spreading, and even with antibiotics they confirmed that I needed them removed ASAP or I would keep getting infections ASAP to them meant August. Luckily I found a great dentist in Shakopee who did the procedure same day. Could have lost my jaw and the only response was "try again for the emergency slot tomorrow"
Forced back onto health partners insurance and must use their dental clinics. I called the most convenient, Comi location, and they are booked out over 9 months for a cleaning appointment. When asked if I could get an appointment sooner at a different HP dental clinic, I was told I needed to call each clinic individually. Why can’t there be a centralized appointment line? I had hoped healthpartners dental had improved but sadly seems worse than the past.
