Based in Oakland, PFE carries some items that are not carried by larger chain stores and are also active in local animal welfare programs, host adoption events and have excellent customer service.

My fave location of my fave pet store! Super knowledgeable and sweet staff here. They're always having a buy three get the fourth free across product categories, a really good deal. I like the array of alternative protein dog foods and treats (vegan and insect). Self serve dog wash is never too busy either.

This store is great and my dog and I love to come here. They have top quality dog food, treats and supplies. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. Thank for being excited about my dogs birthday party. I know it's a silly thing to do but it makes me happy. I appreciate the enthusiasm. Pictured is a doggy birthday cookie. Dexter loved it! Wow...not a Big Box store person but have to give this a great score. I have a BIG DOG and the discounts and selection have been great. This is my go to dog wash as well but what really keeps me coming back is the amazing staff that work here. They have trained me well. Five Woofs!!!!!

Of course I'm a mess because I think my dog has to be put to sleep. the employees at pet food Express we're so kind to me genuinely kind that no matter what the outcome was going to be they comforted me either way. they treated me as though I was a good friend ...and more than that ,they made sure my dogs had water ,a spot to snuggle into with a blanket, they ooooed and awwwwed over my babies true from their hearts..I won't take my animals to any other place except this one now.They made an impact on me at a time when I needed it the most. Best pet supply store in the Bay Area. Between this location and the Telegraph one, they usually have excellent selection. The staff is super helpful. Recently, they only had one bag of my usual kibble in the store. I was hoping to get more and the staff special ordered my request at no extra charge and it was available for pick up within a week. The usual buy 3 get 1 free on everything is worth the money. If you’re looking for suggestions, the staff is usually very helpful, often suggesting value items over the most expensive option, which I appreciate a lot. And the treat for my pup at the checkout counter is always appreciated.

The only place I shop for pet food. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable at every location I’ve been to. they carry the dog food and treats I’m looking for and their buy three get one free is such an amazing deal. I highly recommend pet food express
