I just got 3 of my wisdom teeth extracted and had a great experience with Dr. Papadopoulos and his team! Everyone was very friendly and I was nervous about being sedated for the first time and they made me feel better about it. The procedure was very quick and painless and I’m at home recovering now! 🙂
I had a wisdom teeth extraction for all 4 teeth scheduled with this office. When I initially came in for my consultation, I was given an option for sedation or to perform the surgery without sedation. I reiterated many times that I wanted clarity on what the difference was and if it had any relevance to pain. I was told that going the non-sedated route would not result in any extra pain but a little discomfort until numb, then it would be mostly painless. I was told the main reason people choose sedation is to not have to see the surgery happening for comfort levels, but nothing related to pain. When my procedure started, the numbing shots did not take the way they should’ve and I wound up receiving four times the amount of numbing shots I should’ve to begin with (Over 20). Within 10 minutes of the procedure starting, I was in intense pain and it continued to worsen. The pain was so unbearable that I was shaking and trembling on the table and was given breaks after each tooth to recover and regain my breathing. The duration of the surgery was an hour and 45 minutes while experiencing that excruciating pain in the entire time. I’m not afraid to admit I balled my eyes out each time they left the room because I was scared to continue and also did not feel as safe as many should during this. I feel that this office did not show any professionalism during this procedure as I never had a professional recommendation on how to subside the pain, or the route I should’ve taken going into the surgery considering my teeth were impacted and long rooted. As the professional doctor, I expected that seeing an x-ray of impacted teeth and long rooted teeth would result in some information on what would be the best route for the best comfort. I did not receive any professional recommendations, and I was misled into a surgery that was traumatic and beyond painful after being told repetitively that that would not happen. I do not complain about many things and I’ve been through multiple emergency surgeries as well as planned surgeries on shattered bones and this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. During my surgery, the receptionist also loudly updated the entire lobby several times that my procedure was a "rough one" and "not going well" but never once directly updating my fiancé on my condition. She was beyond worried and had to hear multiple loudly announced updates over my personal procedure and condition instead of being informed directly on how I was doing. At the end of the day, I chose this office because they were in network with my insurnace. I can confidently say that I would’ve much rather paid out-of-pocket double or even triple what I paid to not experience something like this. When I reached out to the office to express my concerns, they tried to justify it and dismiss it instead of show any kind of care or concern. I manage a family owned business and know what it takes to deliver exceptional customer service. This was nothing close to that, especially in the medical field and I am ashamed that I felt vulnerable and hopeless in my mind while being put through a procedure that also caused trauma to my body as well. Overall, I would not recommend this office based on my experience and comfort throughout
Really, the one star is one too many but it made me pick. I would not recommend this oral surgeon for anything. I had my wisdom teeth extracted at the Muncie office and in my experience, he did not take my infection seriously. I went back to him multiple times and was instructed to not take an antibiotic I was prescribed at the ER for an infection. This infection (that Harry told me I didn’t have), led to sepsis and I was hospitalized. After a week in the hospital, I left with a PICC line that required in-home health before I went to the hospital for daily infusions. He done no imaging to check for the infection or anything. It got to the point where my PCP had to call him directly because it was not being taken seriously. It’s been a year and I am STILL receiving treatment from a maxillofacial surgeon specialist in Indianapolis for this. If you value your health, GO TO SOMEONE else.
Let me start by saying, these people are working so hard. I know post-covid has been hard on everyone, but the long and short of it is that they prove there are still those trying out here. They are respectful, sensitive about what payment options you can realistically afford, and they do their best to get you taken care of. I'm terrified of having my teeth worked on honestly and they really put you at ease. The ladies are friendly and explain what's going to happen while you're there. I was worried after seeing some of the reviews tbh but people really only review when they're mad I feel like. Whole time I was there the phone is ringing off the hook because people just call over and over, wonder if they realize that the office people have to help people standing in front of them ya'll. This isn't a walmart where they scan your items and you pay and leave, they're making treatment plans, payment plans, all that so it takes longer for them to help people.
This place can't answer or return a call to save it's life. I have a sinus exposure. Which means stuff from my mouth goes in my nose. They said I needed surgery but they won't return any calls to schedule it. Part 2: they returned my call Finally. But won't schedule due to my review. This place is a joke. And don't actually care for the patients. So moral of the story don't leave a review for them to self-reflect and do better or they drop you.
They will talk through all your questions with you and make sure you understand before anything takes place. The workers are very professional and also friendly people. I appreciate that they answered the phone and let me ask all my questions before I came in so that I knew what to expect during the surgery. They also have a policy to have a driver there for the person having surgery and I think that is important to ensure the customer safety at the end of the day. The doctor was kind and patient with me as well which made the experience better as I’m someone who does not want to have anything done unless absolutely necessary.
Dr. Papadopoulos was going to extract my wisdom tooth without being numb. When I asked for for anesthesia he was rude and refused to treat me. I have never felt so scared.
