Universal Dental Studio : Sehyung Jang D.D.S.

I wanted to find a dental office closer to home so I wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Palm Desert. After a ton of research, I decided to try Universal Dental and I’m really glad I did. I was able to schedule an appointment just a few days out. When I arrived, I was greeted by a couple of warm, smiling faces. It honestly took me longer to fill out the new patient paperwork than it did to get called to the back. Both the front and back offices were spotless, which I appreciated. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a dentist, so I was pleasantly surprised by how high‑tech everything was. Their X‑ray process is super quick and comfortable - you don’t even have to get out of your chair. You bite down on a small device, they snap a picture, and it pops right up on the screen in front of you. Afterward, the doctor reviewed my X‑rays and came in to talk with me. I explained the issue I was having, and he checked all my teeth before focusing on the sensitive one. He told me everything looked good overall, but that the tender tooth would need a root canal. He even pulled up the image on the screen and walked me through what was going on. Since it’s my very back tooth, he referred me to an endodontist for the procedure, but I’ll be returning to him afterward for the crown. I called the referred office before even leaving the parking lot, and they were able to schedule my root canal for next week. I love how fast and efficient everyone has been throughout this whole process. For a first‑time visit, this was definitely a win. I’ll update after my next appointment when I get the crown.

Great service! Dr Jang is amazing and very skillful, it’s hard to tell the fillings from your real teeth 😃 First time I felt kinda lost as he didn’t explain much what needed to be done, but second time he explained, answered all my questions and did an amazing job. Highly recommended

This was my first and last visit to this office. While the staff were polite, the overall experience was less than stellar. I came in for a routine cleaning, but the process was far from standard. They struggled to get proper x-rays, taking nearly 25–30 images, some without a lead vest. During this process, the assistant repeatedly left the room, placed the mouthpiece on the wall, then reinserted it into my mouth without rewrapping it (gross). She also walked in and out without changing gloves, which is a clear infection control issue. The cleaning itself was very superficial. The dentist spent about 1–2 minutes with an ultrasonic scaler, followed by only a small amount of manual scaling. He did not check pocket depths, and the visit ended with a quick polish but no flossing, which I’ve always received at other offices. The assistant also handled her phone with gloves on and then immediately assisted with suctioning—again without changing gloves. Overall, the care felt rushed, unhygienic, and incomplete. This was my first time using Medi-Cal for dental care, and I hope this is not the standard of treatment for patients. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The facility is very neat and well set-up. The doctor and staffs are always kind, caring and responsive. They also accepted to see my daughter as an emergency with a very short notice and did a great job. Highly recommend.
