I am I retired dental hygienist. Staff at front desk was cold and not friendly upon checking in. The girl handed me the I pad to answer questions without saying a thing. Assistant who took me to the room was very cold. I had just filled out the form as to what I’d prefer to be called (Jeannie) and she called me back as Jean! When I told her my name was Heannie she coldly said oh sorry and kept walking… i told her I didn’t want anterior x rays and I was met with silence. She stood at the door and made no attempt to be friendly. As a former hygienist I am extra critical when visiting offices but I expect manners and friendly people at least. Hygienist was just as cold. Scaled my teeth as I requested without the cavitron as I have very little calculus. I told her I wanted her to polish each tooth and get around the gum line. She managed to do this about 50% of the time. I had to ask for an oral cancer screening winch should be automatic with a cleaning. I was very disappointed with the overall staff. Seemed like no one was happy to be there and just working for a pay check. Sad. It could be so much better…. I give the hygienist a 5 out of ten for her skills. I am an easy patient and should have only taken her 30-40 min max. Took her an hour. Half the time she was skipping all over the place, going back to spots she had already visited and just scratching at my teeth. Seems like the dentists are fine but the staff need help with manners and friendliness.
Other than the multiple online forms needing to be filled out prior to appointment all other aspects of the appointment visit was great. All staff were cordial and professional. It was a nice change from other medical offices.
I had mixed feelings about my first visit. I made this appointment over six months ago and had it written down and saved in my calendar as 1:00 PM. The reminder I received later said 2:00 PM, and I believe the time was changed without notification. When I asked the receptionist about it, she dismissed my concern and said a 1:00 PM appointment was impossible because they go to lunch from 1–2. While waiting, I overheard her mention to another patient that they use a call center, which may explain the change. Even after arriving on time, I wasn’t called back until about 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment, which added to the frustration. On a positive note, the assistant and hygienist were very kind, thorough, and professional. Dr. Bakos was polite, took his time during the exam, and did not rush, which I appreciated. One minor but confusing issue: I didn’t receive a goodie bag, and when I asked at checkout, I was told they didn’t know and that it was handled by the hygienist, meaning I’d need to go back and ask her myself. Overall, the clinical care was good, but front desk communication and organization could use improvement.
Maria is just plain awesome! It actually feels good to have her clean my teeth. She is so gentle and friendly. I highly recommend having her for your dental hygiene needs.
Beautiful place. I felt as though it was a factory. Room after room. Friendly staff but sales people. My insurance coverage was misinterpreted but the staff greeter would not acknowledge my insurance coverage. Both my husband and I were diagnosed with gingivitis and periodontal disease??? The woman next to us was also diagnosed with the same condition. We came for a routine visit with a cleaning. We left with no cleaning and both of us had treatment plans for a couple thousand dollars.
I needed a deep cleaning on two teeth as well as a regular cleaning. I was so anxious about the discomfort involved. My hygienist was Angie. Let me tell you, she went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. She has 30+ years of experience and it shows. The front office staff was very professional and sweet. The office is clean and soothing. They are transparent about pricing and I did not feel any pressure to be upsold. I definitely recommend this office and Angie!
I was very happy with the services I had done at this location. However a year after receiving services I received an outstanding balance bill. After talking to customer service I was told that it was an oversight and to ignore the bill. A month later I received a bill saying that it was going to collections. Again I talked to customer service and they claimed that my insurance didn't cover some services and that I owed double the original year old bill. It is either a very sloppy or fraudulent way to conduct business. Update: The billing department is contracted out. The representative from Sage Dental of Fort Myers was extremely helpfulful in navigating the billing issue. The outcome was still unsatisfactory but she made the experience more pleasant.
