Escondido Dental Group and Orthodontics

This was my first visit after transferring to Escondido Dental. The office manager was especially helpful in getting me on board and I was pleasantly pleased with the dental x-ray tech and dentist. 5 stars for the dental team!

My dentist is wonderful. She is very informative. She tells me what she's going to do. And why? And she's very friendly and has a great bedside manner. I used to be afraid to go to the dentist, but now it's not so bad. She knows I'm a little afraid but we make it work. She's a great dentist, ad I thank her for taking good care of my teeth. My dentist is the lovely Dr. Kaiser.

The hygienist are very good. The office staff are a nightmare. Always and I mean always adding costs into any procedure. They add in unnecessary and costly procedures. Will look for alternative dental care through my insurance. Don't go there . You will be ripped off.

I would give zero stars if I could. I’ve been trying to get a deep cleaning approved through my insurance here for 9 months and still nothing. Every month I call, and every month they tell me they’ll "send a request" to my insurance, then the next month I call back, and they say the last person never actually sent it. This has been going in circles for almost a year. Completely unprofessional and frustrating. Terrible place, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Terrible just absolutely terrible. Today was my third time in the office thinking I was gonna have work done. 1st was a consultation for braces where they just talked about $$, the second visit was x-rays and poking just to tell me I need more work before I can get braces aka more $$, today was my third visit, and I was thinking I was finally going to get all my work done, but they somehow don’t have my insurance on file and tell me I need to reschedule or pay the $$$$$$ to be seen. Absolutely never going back I’ve wasted 3 months here (1 visit a month to get everything lined up). the front desk is super rude too every single visit she looks grumpy and not put together, I’m 3 months pregnant and even I can do better/ act nicer.

COVID Safety: I really love the safety they take to make sure everyone stays healthy. I was nervous to come to the dentist in a pandemic so I called ahead and asked them a bunch of questions about what safety procedures they take to make sure patients do not get sick; they took the time to explain things to me. Basically you check in then wait in your car until you are called to come inside. As of today (12-30-21) they also do let some patients sit in the waiting room but you have to wear a mask. A mask has to be worn all the time except for when they tell you it is okay to take it off (for x-rays and dental cleaning). Experience: the front desk staff and all employees are super nice and helpful. I really like this dentist office. For a cleaning today I was in and out in 40 minutes.

Disappointment. My wife and I recently transitioned to Escondido Dental Group, as it is closer to home. The initial exam was very thorough and we loved the dentist, Dr. Kaiser. She was very explanatory and helpful. My wife went back a week later for her cleaning and was happy with the results, and even more so that our insurance fully-covered the services. I went in 2-weeks later for my cleaning, and was told by the treatment coordinator, Leslie, that my copay was $80. What? I tell her I shouldn’t have a copay, that my wife was in 2-weeks ago and the cleaning was 100% covered. She explains that my wife had a prophylaxis and that I am scheduled for a deep cleaning. My last cleaning was 8-months prior, so my mouth is not a mess by any means. I let her know I simply wanted the same cleaning my wife received. Leslie proceeds to tell me they don’t offer that there. What? Confused, and a bit frustrated, I ask her, so you don’t offer the same service that my wife received HERE 2-weeks ago??? Leslie responds, no. I tell her okay, I’ll go somewhere that can offer me a simple cleaning and exit the office. After a phone call with our insurance, they call the dental office and speak with Leslie and another woman that would not give her name (not sure why?). In conclusion, our insurance advises us to file a grievance, as Escondido Dental is not abiding by their contractual obligations with MetLife, while charging patients for services that are covered. We filed the grievance with MetLife, and they proceed to find us a new dentist. Beware of the deceptive billing practices at this office.
