Customer Reviews
Downey Promenade Dental Group has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on over 113 reviews on Google
My wife and I were very dissatisfied with our previous dentist. When this dentist office opened, my wife and I decided to give it a try not long after. We have been with them ever since, and it’s been over 10 years. I even suggested to my mom that she should switch her dentist to Promenade as well. There are too many reasons why I recommend them, but suffice it to say that I am very satisfied and would recommend to anybody.
Downey Promenade Dental Group is a great spot for dental care. The office is very clean and well-maintained, and the staff provide excellent service. Everyone was professional, helpful, and made me feel comfortable throughout my visit. The location is also super convenient with plenty of parking and easy access. Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality dental care in the area!
My whole family has been coming to this dental group for at least five years. I started taking my kids here because this group really prioritizes minimizing and, if possible, eliminating dental anxiety which was something I struggled with growing up. Particularly with sensory sensitive kids, the staff here has really gone above and beyond to ensure all our experiences are as positive as possible. I don't disagree with other posts about sometimes having longer wait times or it being difficult to reschedule at times. The reality is they serve many patients because their service is just that good, in my opinion. During mine or my kids' appointments, I don't ever feel rushed, so I trust that care is being taken with other patients as well and sometimes my wait will be a bit longer. When I've needed an emergency appointment, I was able to schedule one quickly so I believe they prioritize scheduling availability appropriately. In the rare instances I've had an issue with any service, it is always addressed quickly and professionally. I have never felt oversold or pressured into any treatment, and have always felt like my input was valued regarding my own care. Truly, I cannot say enough good things about this office. Every staff member you encounter from the moment you walk in is kind, personable, and professional. I cannot recommend them enough.
I had high hopes for this office, and while my first visit on April 11th started well, my overall experience ended extremely disappointingly. During my initial visit, the X-ray technician was very kind and Dr. O’Keefe was great. The only issue was the long wait time between the X-rays and seeing the doctor. I returned on September 25th for three extractions. The appointment itself was okay, and I appreciated being accommodated with an earlier time, though I did feel rushed out afterward. They also took an impression for an implant that day, and I paid for both the extractions and the implant. I was told I would be called in two weeks. I never received a call. On October 28th, after more than a month, I called the office myself. Only then was I told the piece was already there, with no explanation about why I wasn’t contacted. When I asked why nobody called to inform the receptionist told me to talk to the Dr that would see me on my next appt. My follow-up appointment was on November 15th. The office called that morning asking me to come in earlier, which was frustrating given the previous lack of communication. When I arrived, I was unexpectedly given a state plate, something I feel I had never been told or wasn’t explained I would be receiving. I shared my confusion with the assistant. She asked if I’d like to speak to a Dr. I said yes. Dr. Vivi Nguyen came in, and instead of helping clarify things, she spoke to me in a rude, dismissive, and condescending way. When I explained that I was confused, she said she didn’t understand my confusion and implied this was the only option for my missing tooth. I had never been told I’d be receiving a state plate in the first place. I told her I did not want it and would like a refund. She told me to "talk to the front desk" and walked out with the assistant saying grab the case for your plate on your way out. On the way out I put the plate next to case and left it there. In the hallway, I asked her why it took so long for them to call me about the piece being ready. She told me that wasn’t her problem and to ask the front desk. I told her the front desk said to ask the doctor assisting me, and she repeated that she wasn’t my doctor and didn’t work on me. When I went to the front to request a refund, I was told to speak with the manager Brian Chung. He started off polite but then accused me of being "aggressive" and said he heard I was throwing things in the room—something that never happened. I was shocked and completely humiliated. He dismissed my concerns by saying Dr. Nguyen was "the sweetest doctor" in the clinic, which was not my experience at all. I explained that she was not nice whatsoever to me and that she had actually been very rude to which he replied he would let her know for her professional development in what I felt was a mocking tone. I did receive a call the following confirming my refund, which I appreciate, but unfortunately the overall experience from poor communication to unprofessional interactions with Dr. Nguyen and the manager Brian has made it clear that I will not be returning to Downey Promenade Dental Group or recommending them to others.
First of all, I came to this office for treatment. It turned out that they did a root canal and the cap they put in was too small on my tooth which caused me to lose my tooth permanently and very serious infection, which a had to see a specialist and was told it could had spread to my brain if I had waited 2 more weeks. Secondly, I called the office to make an appointment to talk to them about the issue and was told we will call you back to confirmed. call never came. I went to a different dentist to get checked out and found out I had an infection. I contacted them to let them know what had happened. I got a call from their manager Brain and said that they review the x-rays and was nothing wrong. Went to take them x rays and notes from 2 different dentist Stading that the root canal was done wrong (they left a root untreaded). Once I told the manager that if I had seen their reviews, I would have NEVER set a foot in that office. after that He ask me to leave because HE was "uncomfortable" Instead of deescalating the situation he asks me to leave. I'm not asking for all of MY money back, just the money for 2 caps that did not work and no longer have them... lost both teeth! This will also be reported to My old Insurance, BBB and Dental Board of California.
I sincerely do not recommend this dental office since they usually never have any dates available to reschedule an appointment for existing patients, but for new patients, they have any dates available. In addition, after the insurance supposedly already approved you, it covers some costs, some time later comes a bill from the dentist office where they tell you that the insurance did not cover you, and that you have to pay them.
Everyone is so nice and helpful. Dr Ortega is gentle, explains everything and is very up-front with all treatment. Very pleasant. Makes going to the dentist more of a positive experience especially for myself who is terrified of them . On that day my assistant was a little rough but I think was her personality. Like a bull in a China shop. My hygienist , Bobby who cleaned my teeth was awesome.
