Ammons Dental by Design James Island

This place is amazing and the hygienist Catherine Palyok is a treasure!! She's passionate about preventing and reversing damage wherever possible, and not only thoroughly cleaned our teeth, she also explained how we can improve our routines going forwards to remineralize and hopefully reverse a few issues, even typing up after-care AM & PM plans. Her delight in the process is a joy - so much that you can't help but feel revitalized about taking better care of yourself, too 🙂 Dr. Ammons and Dr. McKenna were absolutely lovely, as is the delightful receptionist Kelsey up front 🙂 So grateful we've found our dental home!

I worked in dental/ dental software for years early on in my career so I am VERY picky and hesitant when it comes to new providers. I was nervous coming in that I would be over prescribed treatment and upsold on things I did not truly need. That could not have been further from the truth. My hygienist was kind, understanding, and helped me update my routine. She was patient, understanding and relatable. I got bad news from Dr. Mckenna: potentially need a root canal or crown but we were going to try a filling first. The day of my appointment Kelsey at the front desk was very kind, understanding, and helpful navigating the financials. She looked out for me and helped me play the insurance balancing act. The dental assistant (whose name i unfortunately did not get) was great. She was kind, explained everything clearly, and was great at helping calm my pre-procedure nerves. Dr. McKenna is a rockstar. and I don't say that lightly. I have met and worked with hundreds of dentists over the years, and she is hands down one of the best I have had the pleasure of meeting. She is super relatable, down to earth, and just instantly makes you feel comfortable. We were able to just do a filling thankfully, and the conservative approach saved me from spending thousands of dollars I did not have. Tears filled my eyes leaving the appointment because I was just so grateful for the experience over all. I will always recommend this office, if you are looking for somewhere to go this is your sign! <3 Thank you to Dr. McKenna and staff!

Went to said location, (there are many) to get my dental needs discussed and performed. I was expecting the full assessment but was told I needed to see the "Owner" who was not at this location. They said I had to go to another location at another time to get "assessed". In the "process" they charged my insurance account even though they clearly told me that no insurance will be needed. As a whole experience, Ammon Dental was not prepared or organized in there practice. The receptionist at both locations were not professional and did not act confident in their work. When I went to see the owner it was clear his main concerns are volume of patients not individual care. He was definitely not prepared to see me. In my past experience and with that type of performance , comes a lot of mistakes. Too many red flags at this Dentist practice to feel confident that they would do the right job (implants). I asked for my insurance refund and they have been slow playing to refund me if they ever will? Now I have to get my insurance involved to reverse the charges… complete waste of a few people’s time that could have all been avoided with proper attention from a qualified staff. I cannot recommend Ammons for dental work.

Dr Baker is fantastic with taking the fear of going to the dentist away, allowing me to finally to take care of my teeth. Everything she has done feels and looks great. The staff is caring and kind, making you as comfortable as possible. Would recommend this office to anyone, but especially to those who have fear and anxiety.

I love Ammons! When I first started going there, I had severe dental anxiety. I’ve been putting it off for so long because I just didn’t want to deal with it. When I could no longer put it off I found Ammons and I’m so glad I did. They treat me with kindness and really know what they’re doing. I love them so much that I switched my kids to their office as well. Now my kids love it just as much as I do!

I absolutely love Ammons Dental on James Island! Catherine is amazing — she’s super friendly, caring, and genuinely makes you feel comfortable the entire time. She does an awesome job cleaning teeth and really takes her time to make sure everything is perfect. You can tell she truly cares about her patients. I always leave with a brighter smile and a great experience. Highly recommend!

(Excuse the errors in a hurry) Words can’t even explain how much these ppl have changed my entire life. I walked in from driving two hours away crying and they took me in with open arms even though they were packed. No one looked at me crazy or judged me they all came to my aid.Kelsie whom worked the front desk came from around back and promise they would be able to help.Dr.Baker herself (very humble and caring ) best medical professional I’ve ever met in my 35 years not only did she calm my nerves but she talked to me and made me feel as if everything would be ok. Monai was very polite and reassuring. Alina very gentle and pleasant.Crystal and Jesus always nice and ready to make you smile. I would give them 1000 stars cause there isn’t anyone around like these folks here. They have become my family. I drove two hours away on thanksgiving eve and they were closed when I got there but no one turned me around they welcomed me with open arms and did not rush me. They save my life I was In an accident years ago and lost all my teeth and drowning in depression and DR. Baker was the only one who could get things done for me safely with my medical history. I don’t just like these people I absolutely love them. They are angels on earth.
