I have mixed feelings from my experience with the Tufts Dental School so far. When originally reaching out by email no one got back to me for over a week and I had to follow up for a response. Then I got the runaround between departments by email and had to insist yes they can and will use the panoramic xrays I had just had taken and I would not pay for another set. Finally I got a consult appointment but had to wait months, but it was free. The consult was fine, if a bit awkward since the dentist looks at you, types, looks at you, types, leaves to consult with someone, comes back, types, and finally they explain things. Made an appointment for wisdom tooth removal and had to wait months again. They do not do full sedation at all. When I was told they would do removal with gas I was clearly told that meant I could drive myself to the appointment. This is not true and no one will tell you you HAVE to have someone drive you and stay the whole procedure until literally two days before. The removal with gas and novacaine went fine as far as I can tell, but follow up information and care is 100% non existent. I got one generic printout about aftercare. No info on how long healing takes, when you can resume using a straw or eating normally, when stitches will come out, and no follow up appointment or even telling me to follow up with my dentist. I haven't tried calling the care line. The cost was low, but you pay upfront (card or check, no cash) and then have to ask for a refund if they change the plan during the appointment which is weird considering you're under the influence of medication at that point (and I had to remind them at the end of the appointment). That being said, the person at the desk and the dentist who performed my procedure were both extremely friendly. My consult took about an hour, and one wisdom tooth removal also took about an hour. I spent more time travelling in traffic to get there. After your consult you'll be bombarded with "How did we do" survey emails, but weird you don't get a single one after they actually do any work?
I recommend Tuff Dental School Exeter Dental Group to anyone in need of dental work. This is my second time receiving treatment here, and both times have been fantastic! My first visit was back in 2008, and the student, Hillary, performed eight fillings that are still holding up perfectly today—that speaks volumes about the quality of work performed at this school. Currently, I am working with the student assigned to me, Aidan, and he is super nice and incredibly professional. He is in the process of creating a treatment plan, and so far, his dedication to learning and making sure I'm comfortable has made every appointment a great experience. If you are looking for high-quality, long-lasting dental care while supporting the next generation of dentists, this is the place to go. It has worked for me, and I consistently recommend it to everyone I know!
This is an amazing place for the entire Boston-New England area! A few years ago, my wife had a horrible infection in her mouth/jaw over a weekend. We went to Boston Medical as they have a 24hr dental dr available [via Tufts Dental] almost across the street. After hrs of pain, the dr was able to administer the correct meds and assess the infection - it was under a tooth! She was well medicated, and the pain ended almost immediately after the tooth was pulled and the infected area removed! Hallelujah!!
I got my wisdom teeth removed and they ghosted me after. Didn’t give me any pain meds, never sent a prescription to my pharmacy even though they said they would after we confirmed my pharmacy multiple times, and when I was profusely bleeding all night they never answered their on call number. I called at least 5 times the next day to which they continuously told me a doctor will call me back, and he never did. I have had to google all aftercare instructions and hope for the best. But hey! It was cheap I guess!
Horrible, a thousand times horrible... I suffered so much, so much for over a year, to have only 3 crowns in a treatment plan with more than 10. I went to the emergency room 3 times with an anxiety attack, because of the many anesthesiologists, who applied to me, because they kept molding and molding a tooth to come and it never worked. I have to redo the process. I left with my mouth broken every time... I could spend all day here talking about the terrible experiences I had there... People, especially if you have good insurance, look for a private one, the value can be better than theirs. 1 star is a lot. 🤬
The orthodontist residents are thorough, very explicit with the prognosis, goal of treatment procedures. Dr. NIcolas, C. is my attending dentist, she has a five star demeanor, the faculty mentoring the residents are top notch. Glad to highly recommend Tufts to my network of friends and relatives. CHEERS!
Don't go here if you need a lot of work done I've been suffering with pain in my mouth from extractions and the dentures they made are uneven and look bad. I contacted the administrator and they won't do anything so not only am I contacting the state dental association Im also contacting some attorneys . I have all the messages from the student talking me into getting all this work done saying they were going to be a perfect fit and it was lies just to get me to get it done. I never had pain before here now I live with constant throbbing in my mouth along with I cant eat solid food . Don't trust them! Update i get a letter recently 2026 of them saying they won't see me anymore cause I need to take multiple days off at work so I can sit in traffic for 2 hours just to go there while the student plays on the laptop. I have never been to such incompetent dentist in my life. They needed 2 dentist to pull one tooth and it caused damage to my gums. Administrator is useless and News Flash do you actually think I was going back there after you ruined my teeth??? Stay away from this place. They will cause damage to your mouth
