Customer Reviews
Del Ray Dental Center has a rating of 4.8 out of 5 based on over 546 reviews on Google
Favorably impressed with Dr. Kim. At 82, I have had way too much experience with dentists. Kim had clearly studied my former records at Del Ray before my appointment and raised an issue that had largely been ignored re/ a very old partial-bridge. Had thoughtful & constructive suggestions. Their hygienist Maddie gives best cleaning I have ever experienced!
During a recent holiday weekend, our nine-year-old son accidentally chipped his tooth. We reached out to several local dental offices, including our own, but Delray was the only one to return our call and offer an emergency appointment on such short notice. From the moment we arrived, we were incredibly impressed by Delray and in particular Dr. Daniel Kim. He was professional, empathetic, and warm, taking the time to explain the situation and our next steps in plain English. He even recommended a consultation with an orthodontist to ensure we were being proactive with our son's care. Our experience was so positive that we have decided to switch our son's care over to Dr. Kim’s practice. We cannot recommend him and Delray highly enough!
I've been going to Del Ray Dental Center for years. While the care has always been excellent, I'm particularly excited about Dr. Kim joining the practice. During my visit, he took the time to ensure I felt comfortable and even helped me troubleshoot my migraines. I had no idea where to go next. As it turned out Dr. Kim is an expert in TMJ care and treating migraines. He helped me understand what was going on and gave me a path to relief. So happy to have him at the practice!
Just had a cleaning today, happy to report, no cavities. Mom would be proud. Dental hygenist was top notch, she explained what she was doing each time and my teeth feel fantastic. Solid. Dr. Kim was awesome as well. He thoroughly answered all of my questions and addressed each concern I had. His positivity Is infectious. Solid doctor. Will be back for my fourth cleaning later this year.
For some reason, my prior review is not showing so I am posting again: I STRONGLY urge you to find a different dentist and if you are a current patient, please check your billing statements and confirm your out of pocket costs with insurance. I was a new patient of Del Ray Dental and they made me pay upfront what my ESTIMATED out of pocket costs were for the new patient visit/cleaning that day and a future root canal totaling $2,000+. They gave me a "treatment plan" that had all the root canal costs and again, estimates of insurance payments. When I received my first insurance claim for the new patient visit and realized there was a $0 out of pocket cost for that visit (but was charged for it as part of the $2,000+), I reached out for a refund and they claimed they would look into my account after all payments were received from insurance. That refund never happened. As for the root canal and other work, insurance ended up covering far more than their estimates and my out of pocket cost was only $700. It has been an ongoing battle to receive my refund of $1,300+. They claimed that the root canal dentist was out-of-network (this was not made clear to me or anywhere in writing on the treatment plan) but as a courtesy to me, they had billed it to insurance as in-network to "make my out of pocket cost lower." This in and of itself is billing fraud and they were just trying to make me responsible for the difference, which is balance billing. I filed a grievance with my insurance who agreed I was owed a refund but they unfortunately could not help because the dentist's ledger (which took months to get) was not matching what was billed to insurance. Multiple procedures are on the ledger but nowhere on my insurance claims. When I brought all of this up, the office manager, Michelle, did a claim reversal on the root canal to tell insurance that the dentist WAS out-of-network, therefore taking away any insurance payments that were made, ensuring that I would be responsible for the entire cost. While this is an ongoing issue, I wanted to share my experience for awareness.
I cannot emphasize enough how strongly you should go to a different dental practice. I’ve suffered for months because of Del Ray Dental. This is my second review (the first was taken down after Del Ray dental called me to tell me they "didn’t appreciate the review" and asked me to have it taken down. I did out of fear of retribution). Things you should be aware of before you visit this practice: First and foremost, I have had to have every single procedure I had done at Del Ray Dental redone. Certain work was done so poorly I ended up getting an infection and needing a root canal. My night guard was NOT fitted, rendering it unwearable without pain. I picked up my night guard in a ziploc bag from the outside mailbox of the dentist office, and no employee checked to see if it fit at any point thereafter. I left Del Ray Dental Center in far worse shape than before I received any treatment. Please find attached a picture I took from the chair of a how to YouTube video being watched prior to me receiving said procedure. When I raised these concerns, the office manager insisted I had not received that treatment and it was for a patient before me. Unfortunately, this wasn’t true, as I watched the employee search for the video on YouTube with my own eyes, watch it, and then proceed to complete the procedure on me. So, I asked for an itemized receipt (which I had been refused before saying they don’t provide itemized receipts) and lo and behold, they suddenly could provide an itemized receipt, where she confirmed I had paid for the service she initially argued I hadn’t received. When I raised my concerns about this with Dr. Yousef, she said not everyone can be expected to remember how to do everything and that I should be happy that they’re being thorough and watching YouTube videos. Further, I was not made aware of any risks or consequences of the composite bondings until after I received the treatment. I was only given the waiver AFTER treatment, and told I needed to sign it. Had I been made aware beforehand, I would’ve chosen a different treatment option. They push veneers. I made it clear that I didn’t want veneers, but they were continuing to push that on me. Further, my front teeth were "roughed up" far more than necessary. What started as a VERY minor chip is now 1/4 of my tooth missing. I believe this was done not to complete composite bondings but to force me to get veneers. I believe this to be the case because the bonding fell off multiple times in the first week of having it, and Del Ray Dental offered a credit for veneers. I can’t help but feel this was the master plan all along to force me into veneers performed by the practice. Again, I believe I was taken advantage of by the entire practice, from the billing to the dental care I suffered through. I would have gone elsewhere much earlier, but I had already spent thousands of dollars at Del Ray Dental. Turns out, I needed to pay to have everything redone, plus a root canal, anyway. I sincerely wish I had not continued seeing Del Ray Dental. Finally, Del Ray dental took over 30 days to reimburse me for payment made by my insurance. I was forced to pay for the entire crown out of pocket, despite my insurance being billed. This was not the case for any other procedure I had done that was billed to insurance. Del Ray Dental grossly overcharges and has otherwise questionable billing practices and lacks any sort of transparency (again, I was refused itemized receipts on multiple occasions, yet the office manager was able to give me one eventually.) in addition to performing poor dental work. Based on other patient reviews, this seems a common occurrence with the practice. I’d also note that those reviews are the ones still up, yet I know first hand how intimidating it is to have the practice call you personally and have you take down a review. I’d be curious to know how many other negative reviews have been removed in the same manner.
Del Ray Dental has been fantastic to me since we moved to the area. Dr. Kim in particular has helped refine my mouthguard into something helpful versus a chore. Highest recommendation!
