Alexandria Children's Dentistry

Ruth Portillo is truly incredible. She is so warm, patient, and always treats our family with a smile. My son, Miles, has always been extremely nervous at the dentist, but Ruth has such a calming, maternal way about her that immediately puts him at ease. During his cavity filling, she was gentle, reassuring, and made him feel safe the entire time. He even told me he likes this dentist better than his last because of Ruth…which says everything. She is wonderful with kids, and you can tell she brings her natural motherly instincts into her work. We are lucky she works at Alexandria Children’s Dentistry, it’s definitely a part of what keeps us coming back.

Absolutely love Alexandria Children's Dentistry. My kids have gone since they were 1 and are now 8 and 10 at the Landmark location. I love that this office is. So focused on the community. They are not just about making money - they are about making a difference in the lives of our kids. My heart is full - the back to school block party was so so great. I 100% recommend d this office. The doctors... The hygienists...receptionists- EVERYONE - GREAT people.

Amazing experience for both kids and parents. It's a friendly and welcoming experience as soon as you walk in the door. We saw Troy who immediately started walking us through the process and explained how the visit was going to be, he later went and grabbed a goodie bag with toys, stickers and dental utensils for my baby. He played her favorite show to ease her into seeing the Doctor. Dr. Angela then arrived checked her out and was brief, gentle and sweet with my baby. We were able to take pictures with a pretty back drop and received a cute 1st visit certificate. Troy walked me to the door and made sure all of our questions were answered. Overall it was a great experience. Thanks everyone for caring

From the moment you enter the door until you check out at the end Alexandria Children's Dentistry delivers!!! My daughter loves going to the dentist there b/c all the staff and doctors are super professional and caring. They go the extra mile to make sure children feel comfortable and have fun! They have iPads in and a Children's theatre in the waiting area. Once you're in the back you are asked what your child wants to watch on ceiling tv as they lay back to get their cleanings and exams. My daughter was so into watching her movie that she didn't even mind. When checking out kids are given a token for the bouncy ball machine, stickers, a toy, a balloon...my daughter was SO excited! They were so open to taking pics with children...yes I'm THAT mom-- and I have posted a few here so you can see her experience:) I'm very picky and I would pick this practice over and over again! DEFINITELY make your appointments! Oh and they have two offices -- one near Landmark area and the other in Del Ray--that's super helpful too!

I took all three of my kids here and from the moment we stepped into the office, all kids were smiling. There were tablet stations, books, and an interactive wack a mole game. The big attraction for my 2 year old was the bouncy ball vending machine which she got a token for after the appointment. All the staff were so friendly, they made sure to keep my kids involved and let them know what they were doing. All my questions were answered and scheduling their next appointments was so easy!

We love the Alexandria Children's Dentistry. My son, who is 3, has seen Troy three times now for his cleaning and he loves him. He is patient, talks us through everything and keeps his patients comfortable the whole time. He greets his patients, remembers things well from previous visits and connects with them on personal levels, these small touches really make Alexandria Children's Dentistry a community place. We've never had a negative experience thanks to Troy! My son will play with the bouncy balls and gifts in the treat bag for the next 6 months and on the way to the dentist this morning he told me he was feeling "happy because he likes going to the dentist, though also a little bit nervous"- Another example of things they are doing right to create a positive experience from a young age! Today we saw Dr. Bre and she is phenomenal, she carries herself with grace and calmness and even made the experience fun for our 6 month old tag along. You can tell she loves her work, has patience and enjoys children, exactly what i want in a pediatric dentist.
