Ulta Beauty has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on over 668 reviews on Google
Zero stars Quick summary: The store experience is abysmal and somehow actually worst since the last time I came to the store. The makeup stands were not clean , restocked, and items were put in the wrong places like Ross. I experienced unprofessionalism, passive racism, and poor customer service. The cashier was awful in ever since of the word. I noticed other people in the reviews mentioning mean girl behavior. It’s hard being the "mean girl" that’s better than the people you need to come to your store with undone messy hair, spreading makeup, and dirty clumped up lashes when your very much a grown woman. . . . . . . My full experience: When I walked into the store there was no greeting. The 1. cashier girl who would make absolutely clear that this behavior was initial makes eye contact with me than turns her head. I went inside to look for new makeup from the brands I like but once again no interaction from the from other staff until almost ten minutes later. They just stood back and watched me. The sections looked gross. The staff member 2. came up to me to ask if I was find needed help finding anything. I went to the other side of store to get what I came for but she followed me and watched as I picked out a lip loss. I had a something I needed to do the next day and was out of setting spray. I just needed do a grab and go but I wanted to make share I left a review about what happened.. Once I got to the 1.cashier gives a dry monotone cadence the entire Interaction. The only question I asked her was in reference to the setting spray. She mentioned it being a dupe and her not having to use that which she said she could not answer. She then interrupts me to turn her head and say welcome to someone walking through the door, then looks back at me up and down ‘Oh like oh you’re still here’. I wanted to make sure that I could get a free item for my upcoming birthday so I checked if my number worked in their system which it did. Cashier 1. proceeds to ask my name to go on to say I’m just confirming because… ( she did not finish her sentence)she after she ask because I reacted because I had never had a cashier say they needed to confirm my account. This is what most people would call a racist micro aggression. There no reason to question my name other than her assumption that my name does not belong to me on top of everything else because of my appearance. The information I provided was more than efficient. She is rude, unprofessional, and unkept. It’s sad because in my opinion Ulta was better than Sephora when it came to products and customer service. That’s a thing of the past.
I placed a very small pick-up order at Ulta before school pickup because my sister’s birthday is tomorrow and I needed something quickly. I’ve never used Ulta’s pickup service before because I usually shop in-store, but I currently have COVID. Since I didn’t want to expose anyone or walk around the store, I sent my 13-year-old son in for me. He had my phone with the barcode, the confirmation email, and his name was listed as the second pickup person. We went to the Round Rock Ulta location — a store I’ve heard negative things about but chose to give a fair chance. When my son walked in, a young Hispanic employee greeted him with kindness and offered to help. She asked for his name, and he showed her the order confirmation on my phone. He explained clearly that the order was for his mom. Just as she was about to verify the items, another employee manager Paula walked up, put her hand over the register, and abruptly said, "No, you need an ID." Her tone was rude, dismissive, and completely unnecessary. My son only 13 told her again that he had the email, the order information, and that he was listed as the pickup person. The younger employee even confirmed his name on the order and told her this. Paula still said "you need an ID," without any compassion or attempt to help. My son felt uncomfortable and unsure of what to do, so he walked out. He came to the car upset, saying how rude she was. So I told him to go back inside with my actual ID and let her know I was waiting outside since I’m sick and could change the order to curbside. He went back inside, but no one was at the pickup counter. While waiting, he wandered over to the cologne section like any 13-year-old boy would and Paula began following him around the store, watching his every move. He said she stared at him "like a hawk." When he returned to the front and told her again that he had my ID, she repeated "No, you need an ID," as if she hadn’t heard him the first time. No solutions, no courtesy, just the same rude tone. He came back to the car frustrated and embarrassed. "Mom, just cancel the order," he said. "Everyone else was nice, but she made me feel awful." At that point I went inside myself still sick, coughing, and exhausted — because my sister’s birthday is tomorrow and shipping wouldn’t arrive in time. I handed Paula my ID. She didn’t say anthing about the situation "you have a pick up" I show her the same ID she just got from my son, No apology. No acknowledgment. Just a smug look as if she had accomplished something by humiliating a child. I want to make something clear: Yes, I understand now that Ulta may have a policy requiring an ID for pickups. That’s not the issue. The issue is how the situation was handled. This could’ve been communicated kindly, clearly, or with basic professionalism. Instead, it was handled in the most disrespectful, insensitive way possible. I genuinely feel bad for the young ladies at the front who were compassionate. My son even mentioned how nice two of them were. I truly believe that if they had assisted us, this situation would’ve been resolved calmly and respectfully or just with an alternative to help me out. Paula, on the other hand, made it unnecessarily difficult from the moment she stepped in. She should not be in a customer-facing role. And maybe at some point someone came into that store and stole something — maybe that person happened to look similar to my son. But you do NOT treat every customer like a suspect. You do NOT stereotype a child. Every person deserves to be treated with respect and fairness. What happened today was the exact opposite. The part that hurt me most was me telling my son "sorry son it’s becuase your a kid" and he said no mom because I’m a kid… and because I’m Black." I have never heard him say something like that. We don’t even talk much about race in our home that’s my fault , but her behavior forced that conversation. I’ll never return to this location. ion is complete trash and the amount of complaints I just read is ridiculous Update: PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE.
Francesca has been amazing at helping me find the right hair care products for my curly silver hair! I’m embracing my age with style and grace. Thank you.
First, I just want to say that all my experiences at this Ulta are great but the last two times Alena has helped me and she is amazing! She knows all her stuff, from prep to prime EVERYTHING SHE BLEW ME AWAY and she took her time to perfectly match me, I totally love her and all the ladies there! I will be seeing her more for sure because I trust everything she said it all worked! I love my MAC, all my skincare and can’t wait to get more!!thank you girls!
This Ulta location is not for 4 type hair And the manager is RUDE and extremely Unprofessional . I had initially booked a blowout. When I got there, the lady didn't detangle my hair and mind you I had called prior to going to ask if they had a stylist that knew how to handle my hair type and they said yes. She went straight to washing it, with a clarifying and hydrating shampoo. And she still didn't detangle my hair during nor after that. My hair was totally tangled still and then she tried blowdrying it, it was extremely painful and she herself said "she couldn't detangle the ends" it got to the point where I requested to stop. She eventually said that we could do a deep conditioning which we did, I requested for her to detangle my hair while wet which she did. After rising it out that was it. We couldn’t do anything else because she had to leave which I totally understand. She said she changed the price to the new services. I was charged : -A cleanse, care, define for 45$ and - A Deep conditioning for 24$ I paid and left, and went online to see what the cleanse care and define service was as I usually go for only the blowout, and as stated on their website it is : " Cleanse, condition, & scalp massage included.Curls are naturally defined by shingling or raking with the necessary styling products. Guest can choose to sit under the hooded dryer, diffused, or air dried." And that’s not what was done to my hair at all. Keep in mind, my stylist was sweet and kind, my issue is not with her it’s with the service I was charged for and didn’t receive. I've reached out to the store manager, my main goal was to see if it would be possible to at least do the curl defining since that wasn’t done yet was charged. I started explaining the situation and wasn’t even done fully talking when she cut me off to say that my hairstylist didn’t charge me for the detangling. I told her I’ve had my hair done at Ulta before, I’ve always had my hair detangled prior to even washing ! But she kept repeating that and didn’t address my issue. It felt like talking to a child literally, she wouldn’t listen. She wasn’t professional one bit. I eventually decided to end the conversation, unlike her, I said thank you politely and waited for her response, that was unsurprisingly very rude and childish, and hung up. So yeah, 4C girlies this ULTA location is not for us. I would advise any Afro hair girlie to go to the Limestone Commercial Drive location in pflugerville to get their hair serviced. They are very sweet and know how to take care of our hair type.
I came into this ulta to find something that would help with my dry skin and hair growth and Fran was there with me every step of the way. She was so kind and funny which made the whole process much more comfortable for me!!! Thank YOU, Fran ❤️
Kait was very nice and helpful. I bought an item that went down in price the next day. She checked on it and was able to give me the credit. Luz was also great in helping me find 2 items in the store.
