This place gets it! I honestly feel that we live in a metaphysical world. Many are searching for guidance, direction or their true north. Since 2014, when I discovered Aum Shanti Bookshop I made it a habit to drop in 2 to 3 times a month. In doing so, I created I crystal jewelry business, gone deeper in my faith, expanded my meditation to be more multicultural. Last but not least, I've learned to respect more individuals and their beliefs! Thank you, to the proprietor of the establishment Rakesh for providing a space for me to grow in Manhattan a.k.a Gotham City. ( I hope I spelled your name correctly, especially after all these years.) I love you, your energy and your shop! I hope you stay open for many years to come. I believe this place can help so many. The store is beautiful and peaceful, but my experience at checkout completely ruined the visit. The cashier or manager’s attitude shifted suddenly; she became condescending and made my friend and me feel uncomfortable, even though we were respectful and had already paid. She questioned me about my receipt unnecessarily and came across as unkind and distrustful. It’s disappointing, especially for a store that promotes spiritual peace and positivity; their own website defines Om Shanti as "AUM, peace, peace, peace," yet the energy was anything but peaceful. I used to visit this place years ago and remembered it being warm and welcoming. Now, I honestly wish I had returned my items instead of supporting a store that treats customers this way.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I've been to many esoteric / spiritual shops and none have been so genuine and accommodating as this place. Rakesh and his fellow staff welcome you as family and always help guide you to specific crystals, charms, sprays, and etc. They have a fabulously organized shop, clean, and airy with a hint of magic and great high vibrations. Amazing selections of books and antiquities. I will forever be a patron here. 🙏🏽 ✨🔮

AUM SHANTI is the esoteric shop to go on 230 E. 14th St, Rakesh and staffs here is the best. Unique products with quality services and staffs. Rakesh and staffs are friendly and helpful in matching, connecting and explaining the stones, sprays, etc., as they are not pushy salespeople.

Very zen space in the heart of chaotic bustling east village. Beautiful Buddhist statues. You should get a tarot card reading here. Mine was suspiciously spot on hahaha

I went in with a friend of mine with intentions of browsing and seeing what called. These are two of the three pieces I bought. My friend wound up finding a tarot deck that she fell in love with. The prices were pretty good, and the store smelled amazing. I asked what was burning and just had to buy it. I'm so happy that we stopped here. It set such a great tone to our trip out and I honestly can not wait to go back.
